Words to Live By Empty
PostSubject: Words to Live By   Words to Live By EmptySun Sep 25, 2011 8:25 am

Growing up in the church and like many of you - not being given a choice because we followed our parents' religious or spiritual practices as children. Then, I grew up and something happened....I entered the field of Drug and Alcohol Addiction and learned a whole new way of living, acting, talking and being. I am spiritual but haven't forgotten my religious teachings.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity

To accept the things that I cannot change

The courage to change the things that I can

And the wisdom to know the difference

For me, words to live by....each one teach one to reach one.

What Abe said.

It's always a good thing when we can see things as being "both/and" rather than "either/or."

My darling Grandfather…taught me my first payer when I was seven.“You who can create everything, and anything from nothing…create me a good heart.” My Grandfather was a peasant from Sicily. I know God answers that payer, because as young man in the tomato fields of Sicily, my Grandfather asked it of God. My Grandfather had a good heart. He was my darling…he still is.

It is a good thought.

It is knowing the difference that is the challenge in this quote.

I suppose it is an very individual thing. Because what one person thinks is impossible to change, another person may not. It is because of being determined to change the impossible that good things have happened.

Here's a few more words to live by:

“We must become the change we want to see in the world.” ~ Mohandas Gandhi

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” ~ Helen keller
