| How cute! Little people love to help. They are so energetic too. |

| I remember that my young son was actually helpful. He liked to be in the middle of everything so he had a mop; he vacuumed; he dusted; he folded clothes; he cooked; he planted flowers - all under the age of six. We did it together, but he actually had his portion and it helped. |

| In fact, I think of it with horror today; but I used to teach him to write the grocery list. I gave him the money. He wheeled them home in the grocery cart. He was so proud to do it by himself. We only lived a block away (behind the store on an alley). Today, it wouldn't be safe. It probably wasn't then, but I didn't know it. We knew all the people who lived in the villas around us. I look at a child of six years today and I am horrified at the freedom he had. I would open the door and he would run play at the park across the street. Geez - those were the days. |

| I remember. The best I could do with Dave after we moved to Houston when he was 9 was insist that he never go to a friend's house unless there was a phone number at home.
Years later, when I asked him why astrophysics, he said, "I don't know. It just seemed like the right thing....Wanderlust maybe."
Yeah. I got it then.

| I never let my kids off the block--watched them like a hawk. So a creep got a hold of one in the store in broad daylight.
The doctor assured me it was not my fault, the child was 9 1/2 and old enough to go to the store alone. |
