E-book authors have reported that their royalty statements from the so-called “big six” publishers, including Hachette, HaperCollins, Macmillan, Penguin, Simon and Schuster and Random House sometimes contain inaccuracies, including under-reporting of e-book sales and earned royalties. Authors have always had a difficult time verifying sales whether print or ebook. They have to rely on the honesty of their publishers. Since there is often some controversy among authors and publishers, that is often difficult.
