| Following the collapse of Borders in Australia, along with another chain, Angus & Robertson, which was owned by the same investment group, the Australian Federal Minister for Small Business, Senator Nick Sherry, has outraged bookellers by predicting that general bookstores will die out within five years:

| I think bookstores are doomed everywhere They simnply cannot compete with Amazon.
Why drive and park to go to a bookstore? You may have to order the book you want anyway. |

| Before I wrote Wooffer I was not concerned about big book stores at all. The libraries were always there and if I wanted a particular book, they would find it within the network of libraries and have it there for me in a week. Free. I believe that no matter what happens with the publishing world, and even if most people have an e reader, the library will be there to sustain the persons who like to read a regular paper and ink book. Perhaps there will be e reader libraries on line at no cost at all, too. Love, Betty |

| My book of short stories has been available for free download on amazon.co.uk since June 3rd. Kindle readers have taken advantage of the offer with a total of 2,305 downloads (the book has been #1 free in Kindle Store in the category Short Stories for ten days now):

The Power of Persuasion has been downloaded on amazon.com 4,143 times. That's a total of 6,448 downloads in thirteen days, an average of just under 500 downloads per day. Clearly, the Kindle is becoming a portable library of free books. |
