| This year I started pumpkin plants and took the seedlings to Michigan in the back of our car.
The plants are going good. I am hoping to get some really big pumpkins. Previously my record has been around 200 lbs.
Has anyone grown a really big one? |

| My surprisingly favorite pumpkins were in S. Korea. They grew pumpkins for food, not halloween. Of course, I was thrilled by the miles and miles of very cheap pumpkins. My son and I came home with an armload to carve into every imaginable spooky face and line around the porch since no one would be trick or treating in Itaewon, just the kids who lived in American chemical industry and oil compounds or military, all quite far from us.
After they burned down and halloween was over, I threw them all in a singular trash bag and gave them to the driver to put in the incinerator.
You can imagine my surprise the next day to see my pumpkins back in the kitchen with my cook carving them into pieces, cutting off any burnt places and cooking them. She made wonderful puddings, breads and caseroles from my "trash." |

| Dear Alice, You could cut a couple of windows and a door in a pumpkin that big and rent it out! If I had a pumpkin that large, I would put a little light inside and small curtains on the windows and put a small mailbox with a nice name (Alice is a nice name) on the side of the mailbox outside and make a path to the door. Maybe a little mat that said "welcome" that had a small plastic daisy on one side. On Halloween, I would have that at the beginning of my walk to the house. I would like to be 5 years old and walk up to that Pumpkin house on Halloween. Yes, I would! What a treat! Love, Betty |

| Can't you see it? Alice, Betty, and Charlie Brown all welcoming the Great Pumpkin. Halloween would change forever.

| Bettty,
I bet Haloween is fun at your house. I had so much fun growng pumpkins a few years back. One yesr the neighbor boy watched the pumpkin grown and even prayed forr it everynight. We gave it to him. The next year we gave hin another--his parents about broke their backs getting iit home.
I quit growing pumpkins--until this year --am doing it for the grandchildren. |
