Jackie was so appreciative of the library book donations.

She thought it would be wonderful if we could have one Normandy book in every state library.

How about it?

Best sellers are rare phenomenons. It takes more than our desires and our purchases. Normandy 1944 had great press and a great author and holds its own in the Amazon rankings. The mass market appeal and timing is for vampires and fantasy and romance and cook books. This nation wants to escape, not go back to another war when we are in the middle of two right now. Movies, maybe. Sometimes movies pick up a book whose nostalgia can be imparted by name actors and actresses with a fabulous director. Get Clint Eastwood to take the book and make it a movie. Libraries? Yes. Let us not forget the true picture of war in any century, a picture like that found in Normandy 1944.

Forget best seller. Forget a movie. What would be wonderful would be a library in every state, even high school libraries, places where young men and women might pick up a book for an assignment, or a class project and find out what war was really like, in the heart and mind of boots on the ground, not just from a general or historian.

No, not millions, just 50 donated books. It might be the ones we already have or purchasing new!

Can we count on one in Florida?
