I'm looking for a way to estimate book profits. Is there a way to determine how much an author has made from book sales?

This is a great questions. I'm looking forward to further information on this, especially in varifying what a publisher states regarding book sales.

How would a author verify what the publisher says regarding how mnay books were sold in a quarter?
