David,

That saves time weeding. Or is there more room for weeds than grass?

No Alice the weeds moved to the next town.
The Town Clock is a wrist watch on a bean pole.
We don't have a post office just a post.
There is no such thing as a drive in, but we do have a drive past.

I cannot find any population for Duette, Florida.

Like E. Don, two cars go down our dirt road once in a while. Usually kids who just learned to drive and like to stir up the dust.
We get the city four wheelers doing donuts in the road and laughing their butts off, too.

I do not imagine they even consider us country people as people.

I like it here. It is quiet. I see stars at night. I hear frogs.

I think that we have lived here so long in this quiet place that we are part and parcel of this animal kingdom that lives all around. They pay us no never mind and we mind them like our children.

I guess I would have to say my town is this five acres. It is all we need.

Love,
Betty

Where I live now is a small community in a county of 54,000 souls where approximately 10,000 of those live in a town about 45 minutes from me. We don't have stop lights, and only one major intersection that has a stop sign--in the north south bound direction. Our closest neighbors are the coyotes and the owls. Those are the ones we hear at night. The night sky, when not blocked by clouds is clear and starry. The are no city lights to conflict with the natural lights.

There are about 200 registered voters out here, but I think many of them live under rocks or bushes, as there does not seem to be enough housing for that many. Either that, or the frogs have learned how to vote!

I think I shall miss this 'un-town' town, but we are yearning for warmer climes and sunnier skies. The lure of fishing holes is calling our names! We should be pulling out by next Wed. and I do not know when my next chance to visit the forum will be. So, keep my seat warm for me, and I shall try to 'pop' in as time and opportunity arise.

Thanks Carol. I shall be going through withdrawal and missing everyone, but will be back, I promise!
