A baker's dozen! Is this on the correct thread? I think it belongs on my Kennedy book thread. |

| I thought this WAS the Kennedy book thread. This place gets confusing sometimes, even when I'm not half asleep. Carol |

| LOL! Carol, I moved it from Joe's pet thread. I had too many windows open on my computer and filled in the wrong Quick reply box! |

Carol, find an agent and submit to TWELVE. |

| Alice, the agent decides where to submit a manuscript and I doubt if it would be to Twelve. Around here huge crowds have been lining up for book signings. Some stay in line all night. The great writer doing the signing is LeBron James. |

| Well Alice like they say in the IWWA (I Was Wrong Anonymous), Admiting it is the first step to recovery. |

| I think that sometimes timing that will bring a book to the top is not the best. I believe sometimes there needs to be space between an event and the writing of it. The man I met who wrote the book about the bombings in Beirut said he had to leave space and time between the event and the writing for publication.
And perhaps there needs to be space and time between the event and the reading. Perhaps releasing Kennedy's book six months after his death might not have sold as many books, but might have been a reminder to the readers of the man and his life.
(I'm not sure any of that has made any sense.)

| The sad fact is that everyone knows the Kennedy's. We have better books, but nobody knows or cares about that. We aren't on Larry King.
Another sad fact is that it easier to sell books if you are rich and famous first. We already knew that, of course. |

| Twelve has some good books. I got one, New thinking About Children.
It's premise is that children who are told how smart they are versus praised for effort do not do as well as they should.
It claims they do not try and give up easily.
What do you think? |

| I guess you were praised too much.
Not your fault that you are a quitter.
You are a quipper though. |

| Alice, I agree with that premise. For praise to work, it needs to be specific, like Peas, Pills, and Parkinsons has a delightfully witty approach to effectively dealing with serious personal problems.
