If you plan to take any long flights in the future, be sure to go easy on your liquid consumption. The airlines are trying to get credit card paystations installed on planes to be able to charge passengers without change for using the rest room.

I pity the folks with long flights who have bladder control issues (like the pregnant ladies and those who are older and have problems). Someone will probably make a fortune selling adult diapers!

Taking a flight? Bring lots of change, and an air freshener!

Don't go easy on you fluid consumption. . Just swipe your credit card and don't worry about it until the bill arrives.

For crying out loud the meals are gone the toilets are gone--next the passengers will be gone from that ridiculous airline.

I halfways expect that some folks willl be using buckets for their carry on! They are already wearing 6 layers of clothing, and sending what they would normally 'check in' ahead in boxes by UPS!!

Fly Southwest they still give you 2 checked bags and dried up snacks.

Once they were coming by with seconds and ran out just before us, Dave said, " Good we have been chosen to live."

I laughed until I cried.

I once wrote a blog about the pay toilets you used to find in railroad and bus stations as well as large department stores. I wonder if someone will scratch the same grafitti on the inside of the airliner doors? "Here I sit, broken hearted . . ."

Some of the larger department stores in downtown Seattle used to have nice 'lounge' type restrooms and they boasted pay stalls. Women would hold the door open for the next in line, (you know there is always a line) and they would have one or two stalls that were free.

That's something I've never understood - there is always a line. Never in the men's, though.

Don't get me going on toilets.

The handicapped stalls are always taken and as I wait, I wonder
what problem the person ahead has.

Guess what --the person is usually fat.

Don ,

If your wife cannot walk she is handicapped

I was not speaking of anyone in her conditon.
I am just stupid not mean.

I would wait all day if your wife were ahead of me--it is the fully functional , walking, thyroid intact folks that stagger my mind.

I am not offended.

Thyroid problems are a bitch. Any chance she will improve? They keep coming up with new (and expensive) medication so maybe something will help. I hope so. It has to be rough for both of you.

When I could not walk well, we went to a restaurant. When I went to the bathroom, the handicapped stall was locked and I could not have used the other stalls. The problem was the the stall was locked but no one was in there. I was standing there trying to decide what to do and really needing to use the bathroom, when a woman came in and asked kindly what my problem was, and when I told her, she said, "I'll crawl under the door and unlock it for you."

That was a very, very kind thing for her to do and will not be forgotten. I did get the impression she understood the predicament I was in, perhaps a family member had been where I was.

Carol, I am so glad she crawled for you. Public bathroom floors are a bit dreary.

I was on a ship returning from Victoria BC to Seattle.

My attention was drawn to the stall next to me. I saw eye glasses on the floor

In- as- much as I have eye glasses and have never seen fit to rest them on the floor of a public restroom, I said , "Are you all right?"

"No, I am sick." came the answer

"I will get help."

I have never been so astonished in my life. I found a purser who beat all.

I told him there was a dreadfully sick woman in the restroom he said. "Madam , Sick people are not allowed on this boat".

I said , That may be so, but you have a very sick one aboard now and don't you agree that four hours on the floor of a bathroom is a bit much?"

He agreed and sent a gurney for her.

Dick, they've tried about everything over the years, but not being able to walk the last couple years hasn't helped.

When I was traveling by Greyhound to my new Foster Parents from Oklahoma to Arizona, I never left the bus but one time because I was so afraid I would not be there when it took off again. I did not eat, drink or sleep because I had no money and it took three days and nights to get to the Coolidge bus station where they found me. Those bus stations had pay toilets. Ten cents.
I departed the bus into the Coolidge, Arizona Greyhound Station and held onto the walls. Slid down in a puddle. It is the only time I have ever fainted in my life.
To be so, and people trying to help me and the toilets locked for lack of a dime, well...I never want to see a locked toilet again. I threw up on the concrete floor. Dismal.

10 cents a dance is something no one but Dick and I remember, but 10 cents a pee was barbaric. Back then, a dime was a lot.

Love,
Betty

Dear Betty,

I hope there is a special place in heaven for you.

A place where there is good food and two forks--so you can eat with one in each hand.

I hope there are clean bathrooms with no lines.
You deserve the best.

Love ya,

Alice

PostSubject: Re: Pay toilets   Pay toilets EmptySat Jun 06, 2009 9:36 am

I use public restrooms 25 - 29 days out of the month.

Truck stop bathrooms are in a class by themselves.

Every other day I have an "adventure" to share with my husband about something I saw and/or heard.

He just laughs and keeps telling me I should write a book about it.

My pet peeve is the ding dong who decided to invent "self flushing toilets" and automatic sinks!!!

Whoever thought these were good ideas?

I think that person should be forced to have those installed in his home and be forced to use nothing but those kind of toilets and sinks.

Though I must admit ... how is it that grown women can NOT flush the toilet after they use it??? Or turn off the sink when they are done??? Truly, I have seen women rinse (not wash) their fingertips for a split second and then walk off leaving the sink water running!

Okay, I'll stop now.

The faucet handle has germs on it. The toilet handle does too.

PostSubject: Re: Pay toilets   Pay toilets EmptySat Jun 06, 2009 12:36 pm

I've had many a skirmish with the automatic flush toilets. ** giggling madly ** Not to mention the "splash" effect several of them have. ** shuddering ** I like the automatic faucets, but they never stay on long enough and they never seem to have good water flow. You get a dribble of water for about 4 seconds, then you have to play the game where you remove your hands from under the spout and then put them back under it again as if you've just walked up to the sink to wash your hands.

JoElle, I have seen women flush the toilet, but the toilet does not work well and so doesn't actually flush all the way. It sounds like it flushed, but it actually didn't. Who stands around watching a toilet flush? Ha! I've also seen women who flush and then a) leave the toilet seat protector on the seat so the next person has to deal with it (ew!) or b) they remove the toilet seat cover and put it in the toilet, but then don't flush the toilet.

It's a strange world we live in.
