             I can't stand it anymore, I just read the figures for those running for
             President so far is...

                                           Democrats.......................6

                                           Republicans.....................19

              I have never seen so many people run for President , I call it a ship of 
              fools, what we need is someone who has no connections to Washington,
              such as a Tinker, Soldier, Teacher, etc.

The Republicans seems to be running wild.  I expect that they will turn on each other as the race heats up and give the democrats a open field. There is much support for Bernie Sanders.  He is saying what people want to hear and has refused to take money from big business to finance his campaign.  I applaud his stance on domestic issues, but I'm waiting to hear his views on the foreign front.  I don't think he can avoid those issues and will eventually be challenged.  Religion will play a role as it usually does in US Elections.  Ronald Reagan used the religious card to get elected and GWB did the same.
The man who won the national election did not become President.  The events in Florida with voter fraud and then the refusal by the Supreme Court to allow a recount remains suspect.

Education about our election process is lacking.  The role of the Electoral College is little understood.

If there was honest debate, it would be thrillng.  But they all need the money to run and will say whatever the money dictates.

I agree DK.  Money greases the wheels in all walks of life and it is especially noticeable at election time.  Those who accept money from corporations or other large donors are obliged to pay it back with favors and that remains a threat to our democracy.  In private industry it is usually referred to as bribes.  Nothing new about that.  The bright spot surrounding Bernie Sanders is that he is not accepting big money and won't be obliged to grant favors.  Of course the campaign is still early and people change depending on circumstances.  Honest politicians are rare and they seldom succeed. 
Having said all that, I still hold out hope.  Once hope is gone, we're lost.

Some great cartoons!

We must remember that it takes a certain type of ego and family structure to run for political office and have your personal life laid out for everyone from the day you announce until the day you win or lose. 

It's also a "service" job in that similar responsibilities in business and industry would pay four times the base salaries.  Yet, they are surrounded by that money and access to use it for just a signature here and there, a word here and there.

There is also no real boss.  It's the ultimate in entrepreneurship.  They gather around a staff and campaign people who only tell them how great they are and how to hide how great they aren't - since all staffers are dependent on that person getting re-elected.

No matter how brilliant a candidate may be, it's not brilliance that wins but the ability to play the game with the right players at the right time in history.

Again, it takes a particular personality - the political career person - to go for that type of job today. 

If the job was as intended - a term or two serving in Congress and then return to normal occupations - things would be different.  People would rise through the ranks to run for President from different backgrounds.

As it is, we have a pack of lawyers and a few rich cats, none of whom would get my vote if I had better choices.

From the whole pack, democrats and republicans, I would still have to go with Hillary for experience and grit.  I promise you that many issues against her would be different if she were male instead of female and in her 40's instead of 60's.  The woman is equipped for the presidency; she will have the same fate as President Obama, however, a Congress thwarting her at every turn to the detriment of the nation.

There is no perfect knight in shining armor, even Bernie Sanders though speaking many of my beliefs, is not equipped for the presidency.  I am glad to see him in the debate, however, to keep the electorate on its toes.

               We'll we  now have a new Democrat running in 2016 Lincoln Chaffee
               this is turning into the biggest ship of fools I've ever seen since I was
               a teenager now we have 7 Democrats and 19 Republicans , now I'm
               really thinking maybe we should have stayed with England and we
               wouldn't have all this bull going on !

We're not the only ones who left England.  England was not our friend.  Their role was as a colonial power - to take the riches of the new world back to their world.  Looking back is always romantic.
