| Interesting Joe. I think it is a step in the right direction. If a national health care program is blocked by the GOP, it may be that individual States will create their own as with Vermont. On the other hand, the national AHC program was signed into law and upheld by the Supreme Court. Enforcing the national program will help to avoid the tendancy for people to move to states that have a program. The need for a universal program is real. The greed of those blocking it is also real. Politicians are elected to serve the needs of the people they represent. Time to give them notice of termination. |

| "The largest national health insurance industry lobbying group, America's Health Insurance Plans, has warned that the law could limit options for consumers and might not be sustainable."
This was a very telling bit in the article and points to one of the reasons the entire nation has such expensive health care. This is only one of the many special interest groups that influence the politicians to vote against universal coverage that might cut into their profits.
A very good article. Massachusetts already has a plan. People forget that the purpose of the ACA is to provide affordable health care to those not covered under insurance and to insure a minimum standard of care for all who are covered under any insurance plan.
The fact that insurers are cancelling policies for people with pre-existing conditions and forcing them into ACA strikes me as illegal since the act says that insurers may no longer refuse insurance due to preexisting conditions. However, it appears the greedy insurers are trying to beat the January deadlines. That's the fault of the insurers, not the ACA.
And one of the reasons for the ACA was that insurers were already raising rates every year and employers were already reducing hours so they did not need to provide insurance at all and were already cancelling pensioner's insurance and insured people with pre-existing conditions and catastrophic expenses. Duh....that's one of the reasons for creating a universal plan with safety from the cost-cutting and profit growing activities of the insurance industry. Of course they don't like it and are "encouraging" legislators to try to eliminate it.
But they are buttering their bread on both sides, stepping up with plans in the exchanges while lobbying against universal health care by emphasizing its "down sides." |

| This sounds so great , maybe I should move from Salem to Vermont ? It would feel strange leaving over three hundred years of history to move to a strange state.....

| Vermont has a pretty high altitude. Might be a bit hard on the lungs. |
