Thank you Alice. You got what I was driving at. Sometimes I get these ideas that flash across my mind and this was one of them that I thought was worth writing about. Even issues like this that people want to tip toe around have different angles.

Another angle is: I wonder how many kids like and admire a gay couple and would like to be just like them?

Sex is a confusing topic for youth. Helping them sort it out is a challenge in any regard and sexual orientation adds to the complexity.

I certainly think gay people should have equal rights, but am bothered by some of the ramifications of the situation.

I don't think people choose to be gay, so I doubt that admiring a couple would make a difference.

Aren't some folks bi- sexual and open to either way?
I really know for certain nothing about this.
How about people who have sex with their dogs?
Do they choose to do that?

I had a good friend who married and had two children.
She fell for a woman and left her husband and kids.
Obviously she could and did go either way.

A lot of people stay in the closet, marry, and have children, thinking that they are doing the right thing, but eventually cannot live with the lie any longer. We had a close family friend in my home town who went that route. Coming out was hard, but he was convinced it was the right thing to do. Eventually, he found a partner, his wife remarried, and he maintained a positive relationship with his children.

Being gay is not an easy thing. Most of society still looks down on these people. Nobody is going to choose to have to deal with the struggles it involves.

I had two gay cousins and have a gay nephew. I wouldn't want them mistreated
or maligned in any way.
The two gay cousins were terribly mistreated by their baby sister who gives them no hope of eternal life.
They finally became atheists. I say and still think it is not our place to judge them.

I know of several marriages that fell apart with great pain because of sexual orientation differences. Can't judge. My God made everyone in His/Her image - and did not define that image except that it was all inclusive - all inclusive.

Ann is totally and completely right.

I shouldn't have even raised the issue. Looking back I see that I never wished to be gay despite some very dashing gay relatives.
People tend to socialize based on like interests and economic levels.
I am afraid the equal rights will not be a panacea. Gays are a minority group and will remain that way.

This is a touchy subject and most people get uncomfortable talking about it, but I only have time to manage my own life. I have no idea what my neighbors do in their homes. I'm less worried about their sexual orientation than if they have missing people held hostage inside, if you know what I mean.
