The New York times has an interesting article on the new Kindle which has many new features. It will be announced on Feb.9 at a news conference on that date at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York

There is speculation on the new tecnology and how it will impact readers.

The story didn't say if people who bought the first model can turn it in and receive a discount on the new one. I've never seen one of the things and don't know anyone who has, unless they are keeping it a secret.

Sets up it's own VISA account in your name, buys what it projects that you will like and makes you read them, is in constant wifi contact with amazon to gather data on your interest, friends, buying pattern, family members, where your kids cross the street to school, and sexual anomalies, and costs $5000, charged to your new account the moment you even think about a new Kindle.

Yep, I have a feeling the new "features" are more about tracking how and what you read for marketing purposes then for benefiting readers.

In marketing, and more so in merchandising, you learn to distinguish between features and benefits.

This product has had the two concepts reversed from the get-go. Almost every feature they spiel is for THEIR benefit, not a reader's.
