Twelve days ago I all of a sudden fell ill, my body was unfire, my bones ached so badly
I wanted to scream ! The next day I was in total slow motion, I couldn't do anything, I
kept ignoring it. This went on for several days until today, I couldn't deal with it ! I tried
to get a hold of my Dr., he wasn't available, I found out our hospital St. Vincent's built a
urgent care center five minutes from my house, so I went. I had a very nice Physician's
Assistant , after the exam she told me I was on the verge of Pneumonia. I told her my
symptoms and she told me I had a very bad viral flu attack and for some reason it flipped
and reversed then turned into severe bronchial which by now was turning into Pneumonia !
For me this is dangerous because of the heart condition and CPOD, she had me breathe in
some fluid medicine for 1/2 hr, then ordered antibiotics and an inhaler, I have to take them
for several days......Thank God I forced myself to go ......Thank You Marci Crawford CFNP

Cheers..Joe...Very Happy

Pneumonia is no fun, but it's easier to treat effectively than flu or bronchitis. As an ex-smoker, I remember from personal experience. Antibiotics are far more effective for pneumonia. Take care, follow the drs instructions and get plenty of rest. Hope you are feeling better soon

Pneumonia can be a strange illness. I was feeling poorly and ached - my bones ached - for several weeks. In the middle of the night I awoke with a bad headache and put a pack of ice on my head and took some aspirin. Soon I broke into chills. I then tried to heat some water for tea in the microwave and was shaking so badly and my teeth chattering so badly I could not steady the cup. That scared me. I called a taxi (I lived in Key West at the time) and the non-English speaking driver was a doll. He helped me to the car and into the emergency room. Sure enough, what they call "walking pneumonia."

Some pneumonias are viral and more difficult to cure than the bacterial kind. Pneumonia is to be taken very seriously and doctor's orders followed to the letter.

We hate to think we are ill when it might be something not serious. There's a fine line between "wait and see" and dangerously ill. I think as we age, erring on the side of caution is the best.

Take care and be well soon. Glad the emergency care was close.

Joe, try not to let you father's death weight on you. Follow your Doctor's advice and take time to rest.

I'm still suffering from my shoulder. The torn tendon plus the Arthrosis is not healing. I am getting therapy once per week for the past four weeks and next week is the last one. I can't feel any difference, therefore a re-evaluation will be done. They have ruled-out an operation.
Funny thing happened the night before last. I dreamed I was flying in a large passenger airline. Something happened to the pilot and I took over the controls. I was approaching a mountain and couldn't get enough power to climb, so I decided to land the plane. The space for landing was small with trees. When the plane came down the wings sheared off resulting in a bad crash. I was in pain and felt like every bone in my body was broken. I was concerned about the passengers and tried to get to them, and then I woke up. I had cramps in my legs and my shoulder was killing me. I got up, took a pain pill for the shouldler and a magnesium tablet. When I returned to bed I tried not to resume the dream, and didn't. I suppose the pain I was feeling caused the dream (nightmare).
