B & N Cancels Obama book order

In this morning's PWWeekly, virtual edition, they report that B & N have canceled a 10,000 copy order for the Obama book, due to the publisher, Chelsea Green making the book available early, but only exclusively through Amazon.com. Borders is keeping their order with the publisher, however, saying it is an important work.

And B&N is calling 'foul'. They said this is unfair to all the other booksellers. I agree.

I saw this story, too, and wondered why the brass at the publishing company didn't think anyone else would find out they signed an exclusivity contract with Amazon.

Serves them right.

I'm hoping it delays things 15 minutes and nobody is interested in the book anymore.

Unfortunately, those who are interested will probably wait beyond the 15 minutes to get the book. But it may discourage one or two readers.
