Sure ain't. My hope is that losing this Romney/Ryan campaign will get them the message to move more toward the middle and not implement radical religious practices. As it looks now, Romney has not only adopted President Obama's foreign policies but his domestic ones as well. Thus, he sounds like President Obama on the stump. He isn't even mentioning destroying Planned Parenthood and the Affordable Care Act. He has even softened on his abortion stance, leaving it to someone else to legislate...

Thus, he is the white Obama, the one those of bias and prejudice would rather see in the White House even though he has nothing better to offer and more destruction in his belt than anything else. He sounds like President Obama - and only by spending all his time on Romney's fault's is it possible for President Obama to fight the tide. The country wasn't ready to live by its ideal of diversity and "welcome to the tired masses" or however that goes. No, the country was afraid of difference and change, hurting from Bush's shellacking and blaming the wrong culprit. President Obama was treated horribly by ignoramuses.

I am starting to feel like you, Alice. I hope if a deserving President Obama is defeated that he receives a job offer of immense stature and wealth and he can spend the rest of his life in luxury and love after what he has put up with from an ungrateful nation. Otherwise, he'll have to start dying his hair like Romney.

The pity is that the country is now moving forward, and Romney will benefit from a smooth ride while President Obama inherited hell itself. If Romney get the presidency, he'll get credit for what President Obama put in place with great difficulty. Pity.

One thing I have noticed is that no Republican women who are running for office are stepping up and saying anything at all in the defense of a womans's right to govern her own body. I find that very disturbing. In fact, I think it says something about the entire Republican party.

Just my take.

Love,

Betty

I agree. It is disturbing. Apparently they do not believe that it is a woman's right - still caught up in that patriarchal paradigm that says they were made to serve men. Even when they choose to have careers and speak out, they speak with a man's voice.

Women who have found men who honor them and encourage them to speak in their own voices (and there are more and more of them as time goes on) are very fortunate women.

The Republican Party is beating a dead donkey. That's why they could not come up with a decent candidate. I feel for the moderate conservatives who are forced into making a hard choice.

It's a bit like the situation of the 1850's when the Whigs were dying out and the Republican Party was forming. Ironically, those new Republicans, like the old Whigs, were the liberals of their time.

Go figure.

This might be the worst yet. Last night, Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock claimed that pregnancies resulting from rape are a "gift from God" and something "God intended to happen." And just hours ago, Mitt Romney doubled-down on his endorsement of Mourdock's campaign.

What's most terrifying: this is just the norm for the Republican Party. Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin. Mourdock. Ryan. Romney.

What surprised me was the venom directed to me from people who once posted on this forum on Facebook for simply providing factual rebuttals to republican lies that showed up on my newsfeed because we were previously facebook friends. I have been called many ugly things for only stating facts. The facts aroused venom at a frightening level.

Another revelation was the southern country music writer and singer, novelist and short story writer, E. Don Harpe's factual and intellectual support for the re-election of President Obama. He never flamed but posted consistently factual information that proved the country is moving in the right direction and that President Obama is the president to support the men and women who serve the nation in combat, the women in the workforce, families, small businesses, and as a statesman in foreign affairs.

Against a tide of facebook abuse, E. Don Harpe has spoken in support of modern women in a way that his children and wife could be immensely proud. He is of that generation that still believes women should be subservient to men; yet, he supports the women in his life and the rest of us with his 21st century data and views.

Dear Abe continues to support us on facebook and here with a forward point of view with an international context that also supports women.

There are men that "get it." There are many who don't and the women in their lives accept that part of their nature, even supporting it to keep peace.

This is a no win win situation....Everyone cool down,

in 14 days everyone will know who wins or not, it's

time we get back to our everyday lives, don't you all

realize we don't mean a hill of beans to any politician ?

Time to sit back enjoy life, have a glass of wine, watch

a good TV Show or a Film....Read a great book, take a

walk , stop and smell the flowers, watch the wildlife with

amazement, create something with your hands....It's out of

our hands it's in God's hands.....Life is short.......

Cheers..Joe....Very Happy

Need to put it into the universe as happening as I was told on this forum...vision it happening. Vision waking up on November 7 and President Obama is our leader. Women are receiving the respect they need. Those insured with the Affordable Care Act remain insured and benefits gained from that act for Medicare remain intact. There is no threat of vouchers for Medicare. Abortion will not be legislated as illegal and women's reproductive health care needs will be within their rightful control. The stock market is still humming along. Our respect and allies are are still intact. Women in the workplace have a recourse for equal pay issues. Ah, what a beautiful morning!

We must keep affirming President Obama in the White House - see his family there, secure in his job for the next four years.

Good post, DK. All good posts. Joe, as for sitting down with a glass of wine, I like that too. Yesterday was the last day of grape harvesting. What remains is the feast. Lots of good food and wine to celebrate.
Wine is not only good for the stomach, but can be good for the spirit. One seems to mellow with a glass (or two or three) of wine. Problems seems to diminish.
One doesn't forget what is at stake in this election, but one can know that he/she did their part for what they believe is right. As for winners and losers, we are in the same boat. The unsinkable Titantic sunk. Before our ship sinks, we know what to look out for. Those icebergs conceal much under the water. We know that there is much being concealed from the public. Sending out our SOS is important so that more can be saved from the potential disaster.
