| Here is the appropriate B&N link to the page that notes their policy for dealing with copyright infringement and the process and contact information for reporting an infringement issue: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/include/copyright.asp
I hope this helps.

| Been there, too, Victor. I have contacted B&N. I am giving them time to respond. In the meantime, I do not want anyone to think that I approved this listing. The price is far too high for the length of the selection, and the formatting is poor. I am far more concerned about those things than I am that someone else might profit from my work.

| Unfortunately, No one even tries to steal mine. I was at a PD Conference and had a table with my books for sale. I traded books with a man there--walked away and someone stole the book he had given me. I was so offended. Aw Phooey-gives me something to gripe about:) |

| That's what I like about you, Alice. You never gripe about the big stuff in your life. You joke about the little gripes. Annie |

| It-t's go-o-n-n-e!
And so are all the other zefeng guo books.
The letter to PubIt did the trick. I heard back from them this morning, and when I looked in at B&N just now, the book was no longer there.
Thanks for the advice and support, all.

| Hiya All, I have read through all of the posts in this section and became curious. I have never published anything or posted any of my work anywhere, so I never ran into an issue such as the one in this thread. I am guessing that you have the copyrights to your work (I am saying this because I send all of my stuff to the US Copyright Agency- just in case I do decide to publish any of it). Here is my question: How come you did not contact them? Would they not be the "big guy" to turn to? I think I remember seeing a link on their page for infringements. Also, just because the book is not listed by those sellers anymore, does that necessarily mean that- who ever took it- is not using it somewhere else? Hope these questions are not too noobish, but they were the ones that came to my mind while reading the posts. Thanks and Huggles, Katja |

| Hi, Katja. Welcome to the forum. First, any work you write is copyrighted without your having to file. Filing simply makes it easier to prove, should a problem come up. In this case, the publisher listed me as author, so that was not the problem. They did not have rights to publish, and would have no way to prove that they did. The situation was pretty obvious, once the people who had the ability to do something about it were informed. It is possible, of course, for anyone to download any digital book and attempt to use it somewhere else, but they would need a place to advertise and sell it. Unless they were to attribute it to a different author, it would continue to show up on the author's pages, just as the other books did on the other authors' pages. Never feel "noobish" for asking questions. That's how you learn. Ann |
