Here's an exciting site to self publish, I used them once before for

a photography book, they did a great job ! Now I'm using them for

my new photography book. I also found out you can do a 5 X 8 or

a 6 X 9 trade back book, I decided to use them. I had to down load a

free version of Microsoft office( They allow you for 60 days free ) then I had

to download a blurb publishing plug in for Microsoft to help in the size

of the book , page size and I already started this and it's cool it knows

when the typed page reaches a certain point and automatically goes to

the next line, at the end it asks for book cover, etc. you send back to

blurb, to publish and you only buy one and then the book goes into their

book store on line. The price for a trade book starts at $3.95 and up depending

on the page count, I love the program, check it out , here's their site..I'm using

the trade book 5 X8 for m murder mystery..

I feel like I discovered America ! Can you imagine 6 years

ago I was a virgin in the publishing world, getting published for four

books, now after all this time I've learned so much and thanks to

many here including Shelagh I feel I have arrived !

I love your excitement for your new book of Santa Fe photo's. I wish you all the good that can be. I hope you contact the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Fe. You could make individual photographic presentations of each place with the history and your beautiful photograph. I have seen those in Welcome places. Restaurants like Denny's and Bob Evans. Your photo with a little map and some history. I can see you being famous from that. I do not know who pays for it, but someone must know. Good luck, my friend!

I did two versions of the book on Santa Fe to see what the price would be , 5 X 8 softcover and 6 X 9 softcover. I haven't finished because I have to wait to photograph on Aug. 11th The Man Mountain Show and on August 18th & 19th the Indian Market for the costumes. My murder mystery will be a trade 5 X 8 size, I just started it yesterday, I have to re-type it !!!!!

Ghost Orchid is for sale at the Naples Visitor and Information Center in a space where they have selected works of local artists to display and sell. Maybe your Chamber has something similar.

Also, my local bank has a display of their business account member works with business cards and sale info.

I haven't sold many that way; but mine does not have pictures except on the cover! I think tourists like pictures. I do.

I was thinking of creating a post card photo of book on one side and info and where they can buy book and give the cards to the tourists visitors site...

Super idea. I made lots of post cards at Vista Print when they had 50 postcards for free ($7.51 shipping, I think). It made them .15 for each. Sometimes I think they have 100 for free - then they are even less expensive though shipping goes up a little. Their quality is superb!

I also used their rack card to make two bookmarks on each card (see them at my web site). Same thing - 50 for free plus shipping - made the bookmarks about
.075 per mark.

For the tourists, though, postcards to send home with photo by local artist (also available to buy photobook....) is cool.

I almost forgot two years ago I created a book on photography on Blurb , I just created it into an E Book and gave the customers a 30% discount. Check it out and see hardcover and E Book.

I was very happy last night when I saw that Blurb not only prints regular books but now has E books and it was a breeze to turn it into one.
