Update

Hi

I hope this finds you all well. I want to update you on the progress of my book (great answers to tough careers dilemmas) that I posted about here while it went through the publishing process.

It was published early September and the publisher has just email to say how pleased they are with the 2,000 sales in the first 4 months.

My next book is being published tomorrow. The rest of this year I will spend producing new editions of existing titles.

In a few months I’m moving (from the Caribbean) back to the UK and might, just might next head off to Africa next to write from there. Got some interesting ideas for future titles too.

thats up to the publisher, they have done some already but still the majority of sales are bookshop. also the royalty deal on ebooks is rubblish, but this is begining to change.

My experience of mainstream nonfiction is that when sales start well, provided it’s a competent work, they get better. There is nothing much the publisher will do if a book falls dead off the press.

Let me be clearer in what I said regarding the difference between bookshop sales and Amazon sales including ebooks. My mainstream titles like career dilemmas sell better through the shops while my niche works sell better through the web, for example very specific titles about getting into medical school.

The book published tomorrow will sell well through both the book trade and Amazon most likely sales will be better than career dilemmas I say this because of the subject matter and because the publisher has treated it in marketing terms as a ‘vip’ title (their term not mine). I’ll let you know in due course.
