Good! I am with you. I have finished also.

I hope Amazon paid you for the print books they sold me--83 to be precise and LuLu the 65 I purchased from them.

It is slowly sinking in there has been a misunderstanding here: "What next?" was not meant for Shelagh.

Al had suggested I send books to President Obama's daughters--I did.

I meant for ideas from anywhere/anyone--not that Shelagh should do more.

Anyway it is now #8 and enough is enough. We can direct our attention elsewhere.

Look at the pricing of the three books and use your accountant's mind to figure out what the publisher is trying to do by giving away tens of thousands of free copies of the first book, pitching the second at a higher price and the third at a higher price still. You should be able to work out that less is more (more books for free produces less books selling at a much higher price).

The bottom line with publishers is PROFIT, not number of books sold. A bestseller that sells 100,000 copies at a $1 each does not generate as much money as a non bestseller that sells 5,500 books at $20 each. Publishing is a business.

Spending more time on promoting your book will not produce a profit for me. I really have finished with the Living by the Swamp project.

This was a bit over the top. I do not need an elementary lecture on cost accounting. The surly, "What do you want next? I am through." in the previous post was unnecessary also.

I asked you to publish my book you did a wonderful job--I did not ask you to do anything else.

Do as you wish with your time. You are overextended and taking your frustration out on me. I refuse to accept it.

If you are truly through with it--feel free to cease publication at any time.

Okay, Alice, I'll take it off Lulu immediately, unless you want time to reconsider. Once it is no longer available on Lulu, the book will be removed from Amazon approximately six weeks later (Amazon might want to retain a listing for secondhand books that are available -- I can't stop that).

I said you could feel free to remove it. I did not request that you do so.

If it will ease your burden as a publisher and add to your profits (which is why you are in business) by all means ditch it. People will live without it.
