Perhaps the friend will recognize that you have done your best and now it's time to let the situation just end without more fuel.

I know I sometimes become irritated online by the remarks from other people that I find unbelievable. However, they owned them, not me. Therefore, I let them keep them.

However, I try to make at least one statement about things that are not true because it does not pay to put one's head in the sand, either. Once I make my defense, however, I try to walk away.

Sometimes, I return to a matter to add factual information. That purpose is to inform, not to add fuel. Information is not always welcome.

Sometimes, I do not follow my best path. I'm a work in progress.

I agree with DK. Sometimes it is necessary to provide factual information when false statements about our person are made, however once that is done, move on.

It seems that there are those whose objective in life is to create conflict. I feel sorry for those who dwell in negativity. Comments reflect on the person making them. Having said that, it is recognized that we all makes mistakes. In the heat of the moment, we often say things that we wish we could take back, however that is not always possible. Best to take a few deep breaths and/or sleep on the matter before commenting.

I also don't think we should live with our heads in the sand. When something is wrong we should express our discontent. Much of that is happening today with political matters. The action about Wall Street may appear negative to some, however I believe it is intended for positive results. I applaud those who take action to correct wrongs/inequities. Doing nothing changes nothing.
