Ever wonder why FOX News spews so much hate?
Rupert Murdoch is only worth 6.3 billion.

He would like everyone to buy the philosopy that the rich are the needy Americans. and if their taxes were to go up, they would have nothing left to create jobs for the poor.'

What a sick, sick joke.

If they were going to create jobs, they would let go of their $trillions in cash, expand their corporate products and hire. No, they are holding onto their profits to pay the lobbyists and television stations to lie about them creating jobs.

I guess there is some justice in the universe since perhaps Murdock's desire to purchase a large satellite may fall through and his paper is done. Power and greed meet their match at some point. It's just that a lot of people are hurt along the way.

Alice, the problem goes back to our early Ameican history, primarily to the first Puritans and their perspective. John Winthrop of the Massachusetts Bay Colony articulated it for that group. He taught that it is God who gives wealth, therefore the wealthy man is the Godly man. A man's wealth is an indication of God's approval, and the reverse, poverty, as a sign of God's disapproval.

So, today, many people still look to the wealthy as having the answers that God approves.

That's how they get away with stealing the mere middle class blind, and the middle class, through their feelings of guilt over not being wealthy, buys into it, and continues to vote from that perspective.

Good post, Ann.
God is used for convenience. Wonder how many of the rich can squeeze through the eye of a needle? Perhaps the rich have a special needle with a whopper of an eye.

Ann,

The same goes for health.
The healthy are godly the sick are no good.
Sad philosophy.

I'm still listening to FOX radio 92.5 on my radio. Hannity or Hammity or whoever was spewing his stuff tonight. Every breath President Obama takes, this jerk has a libelous comment. Today his guest called President Obama a Marxist whose doctrine by Marx wasn't serving him as well as he expected. They actually have the audacity to call President Obama names. And they talk about him as though he was a low life, a nothing, a drag on society. And they do over and over and over again. No wonder ignorant people buy into it. It is an art they have perfected to grab a soundbite and repeat it until it sinks in. Do you know that President Obama wishes to have everything in the country run by the government? That he should be able to run the government on current revenue? That he wants to raise taxes on everyone? That his goal to is to grow government and tax everyone more to pay for it? That his cry now is not to balance the debt but create more taxes? It's all hogwash, but it sounds so believable the way they present their sound bites.

I think the name "Fox" is appropriate. A Fox is sly and cunning.

Does anyone think that Rupert Murdock is any different from other media moguls?

Just curious.

I do. His news station reflects on him. FOX News makes no effort to be honest or fair. I wish people would wake up to the fact that they are being brainwashed by a mean, dishonest man.

CNN and MSNBC do not have the holier than thou ring to them that FOX News does.
I am surprised that so many religious people are taken in by his hateful, vitrolic news.

I don't know. I used to think so, but lately I've felt that the other channels are just more subtle. Is FOX different from ABC or CNN? On the surface, anyway. What I was referring to, though, was the force behind the network - whoever is pulling its strings. More and more of the news sources are being controlled by corporations, and the corporations and their leaders control the news. There is always an agenda, and objective reporting is a thing of the past.

We need to listen to our guts and hearts whenever we come across an article or newscast. Knowing the source is always important these days.

Just my perspective.

I put more credence on CNN . I never listen to FOX.

As soon as hollywood activities and television shows became the subject of the news hour - I knew that real news was doomed. The channels do not provide h ard news. They provide murder, mayhem, threatening weather and the current winner of Dancing with the Stars.

The only real news is a few dedicated news (real journalists) bloggers - and sifting through the unsupported trash to get to the real mccoy takes a sleuth with a lot of time and interest.

But, which bloggers?
I could start a blog.
I don't know diddly squat about the facts.
Bloggers read and write what they like. I want a balanced approach.
Tell me both sides and let me decide.
This forum is unrepresentative of the prevailing public opinion.
More liberals here than in the country.
I think we are right though.

Alice, you choose CNN over FOX because you are thinking and feeling from your own wisdom. That is how you know whom to believe. You are a wise woman. Use that wisdom to help you discern those facts.

Yes, because that is what the mob wants. We are back in the days of the Roman Empire, when the Caesars maintained control by entertaining the masses and keeping them ignorant.

I noticed this article on a sidebar while I was looking up the news report Joe mentioned on his debt thread.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/12/happy.days.lawsuit/index.html?hpt=hp_p1&iref=NS1

The headline reads: Happy Days actors accuse CBS of 'despicable conduct'

It isn't as innocuous as it sounds. Apparently, CBS has been using bits from he series in highly profitable ads without reimbursing the actors, in spite of contract obligations.

Granted, the debt ceiling crisis is more important, and it is another sign that the average person's interest is somewhat misdirected, but it is another example of how the heads of the media need to be investigated.

It was CBS, as long ago as the mid-90's, who was willing to cave in to Big Tobacco on a CBS Evening news segment about a whistleblower willing to expose the tobacco industry until one of their own execs turned around and blew the whistle on his own employer, CBS. It was all about money then, too.

The world is so much larger than a neighborhood these days, but it is as small as a neighborhood, too. Change must come from town meeting that are not conducted by people with an agenda. Discussions, thoughts expounded, reasons and reasoning. Where have we lost all of that?

I think it is that people do not remember the townships, the mayor. the constable, the local people who used to go to meetings. In order to change this world, we must think in micro. Let the people start talking without the polititian and the money behind. Go back to the true town hall where people listened and spoke. Like Benjamin ...you all remember his name....let us get back to the basic of discussing without the political crap.

Love,
Betty

As the do-nothing congress continues to waste time on ego and ultimatums, their salaries are paid by us. As I have clearly stated before, any business that ran like Congress would fail.

Congress operates like a bunch of junior high school boys, sticking out their chests and exercising their testosterone and egos.

Betty,

Great idea! We could begin by asking where are the jobs created by the Bush tax breaks?
They want to extend those cuts while the surplus was eaten up by the tax cuts and the wars cost more money.
When we didn't have the money they borrowed it. It would be funny to hear their answers.
