perhaps, but going somewhere all the same, this then is my journey to self,... I like the way you write, goblin. It reminds me of my favorite poet: - Quote :
- It seems, as one becomes older,
That the past has another pattern, and ceases to be a mere sequence— Or even development: the latter a partial fallacy Encouraged by superficial notions of evolution, Which becomes, in the popular mind, a means of disowning the past. The moments of happiness—not the sense of well-being, Fruition, fulfilment, security or affection, Or even a very good dinner, but the sudden illumination— We had the experience but missed the meaning, And approach to the meaning restores the experience In a different form, beyond any meaning We can assign to happiness. | Jaycie, her mom and dad, and her Pop-pop are due in at the airport around 2:30 this afternoon. As soon as they rent a car, they are stopping by Annie's for a visit before going on to Grandpa Bill's. Tomorrow morning, they are taking me out to breakfast, and tomorrow night, there will be a family dinner at Lynn's. Monday morning, Chris will give them the Grand Tour at SeaWorld before they head back to NJ. It is a joyous morning. Jaycie's Annie |

| "...if I won the polls today, I would tell no one and change nothing at all, turning up at work as always..." ventured the goblin in his laziness now, where once he had lived a life where the weekend would compensate for his weekdays, and where buying things too, would somehow compensate for a feeling of inadequacy within, but they never did compensate did they, saying "...no, and still don't think of it as happiness as such, more like an understanding then, just that the me of today is so alive on the inside that it seems near dead on the outside, worlds apart even..." |

| Had a joyful evening last night at Lynn and Chris's. Jaycie had spent a couple of hours swimming in Grandpa Bill's pool, and slept through dinner. Here she is just waking up in Mommy's lap, and not terribly happy with us. (It only lasted a few minutes. Her mood improved considerably as the evening progressed.) But at first, even Pop-pop's teasing didn't help much. And Daddy was totally engrossed in playing with Aunt Lynn's new ipad. While Uncle Chris, ever the modern gentleman, cleaned the kitchen by himself. Superhost and cool son-in-law he was. No more pics because "Annie" was cheering Jaycie up with her iphone's youTube app, showing her clips of Elmo and her current fave film, Home Alone. She couldn't stop talking about Elmo and Kevin after that, and "Annie," (formerly Grannie Annie) wasn't about to spoil the mood by switching to the camera app for another pic. Jaycie's Annie |

| I had to do a hard look to find this old thing. My bad. I started it; I ought to have kept it going. I may need to reiterate the opening post's criteria: - Quote :
- Joy is a broad term, and can include a large variety of stuff, but no joy-less posts can go here.
Now, I feel joyous today because it rained. It rained so hard, starting early this morning, that it woke me up. It continued, in a hard downpour for most of the morning. It is now afternoon, and there are still clouds in the sky. It is still in the mid-80's, and they say it won't get higher than the low 90's, which is quite cool compared to 105. The High pressure has moved away from us, and rain is predicted for most of this next week. This is a joyous thing. This is a joy thread. Please don't douse the enthusiasm by raining on my joyful parade. Why is rain associated with bad stuff? Rain brings water, and water is life, and life is good today because it rained in Texas. So please, don't bring up the idea of too little too late or the horrors of global warming from man-made pollution. This is not the place for that kind of negativity. If you want to say something, say something else that is joyful and positive. Talking gloom and doom only increases the chances of it happening. We are co-creating reality here. Ann |

| Joy! I picked up some inexpensive things I wanted - and discovered today they were 75% off! I spent so little for so many nice things - and most of the things were needs as well as wants, as simple as some plastic bins with covers and some shoe holders. |

| More joy--Dave and I went to see Robert Duvall's new golf movie. It was great!
I love to watch Robert Duvall, he's still good at eighty. |

| I guess it's because I'm aging - but I enjoy the older actors the best. They are still there because of their skill, not because of a pretty face or a connection. Morgan Freeman is one of my favorites; but there are many. Meryl Streep. Yes, Betty White with all her wonderful facial expressions and humor. |

| More joy - A Time for Peace has been downloaded from Smashwords 58 times in this, its first week. It is still pending approval for premium distribution, so it that doesn't include either B&N or Kindle.
And, the sales of my other stories are increasing on Smashwords as well, since the new one was uploaded on 11/28.

| Stopped in at Walmart Superstore yesterday, and found some fresh black-eyed peas in the grocery section, along with beautiful bunches of brightly colored mustard greens.
Picked up a rotisserie chicken to go with, as well as some fresh mushrooms, and had an old-fashioned country dinner last night: Roast chicken, black-eyes, greens, cornbread, and mushroom cream gravy.
Joy all around last night's table.
