Hi, all.

I'm busy working on the coauthored novel. It's going well, so far.

Here's my question...

Several of the words or phrases in this book are in Spanish. I have someone helping me with this, as I don't speak or write the language.
In Word, how do you add the tilde (~) above a letter? On some letters, I can go to Insert Symbol and choose the letter with the tilde already above it. But, how do I add it to one I have already typed?

Sign me...confused... scratch

Rhett

Rhett, I don't think you can add the symbols to an already-typed
letter, but I use the alt-key codes found here -
http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codealt.html

It's so handy I keep it on my toolbar for easy access.

Highlight the n hold down CTRL key and the tilde key...on mine it's an upper case, which means also holding down th SHIFT key at same time. THEN, hit the capital or small case n, this should produce a "tilde'd" N.

To do the umlaut press control and colon at the same time...also a three key operation on most keyboards, then hit the "U" or wahtever.

If you don't have a tilde key, use the INSERT tab, then SYMBOLS. Search the block of special characters there for the spanish character (upside down question mark, Ñ, etc.

Thanks, Lin.

I will try this! I knew there had to be a way...

Actually, this makes me want to learn Spanish...

broaden my knowledge base. Perhaps, in my spare time.

I got here a little late, Rhett. I didn't have an answer for you. Sorry.

Thank you to Phil and lin! I have copied, pasted, and printed the info out.

BTW Rhett, I added your book cover and link to my website. Let me know if that is okay with you.
