Wow, that was quick! I'd love a copy of your book to give away. I have two "borrowed" grandchildren who will enjoy them, now that I have finished.

I need to add that these same grandchildren asked me to "please be quiet" in the car when I had the cd's from Betty Faisig's Wooffer playing...

174 pages, exact same size trim and paper on Lulu.com is $6.63 per copy to the author. Make it $10 retail and that's a $3.37 profit per copy. Even taking away a few cents per book for shipping (Lulu.com charges shipping per box, not per book) and it's a killing.

Lulu makes a killing on shipping--per book. I saw no per box rate.

You looked as a customer. Authors get a bulk rate. Hold on, let me find the link for you.

It's $11.00 per pound for shipping in bulk.

Even if they charged something high like $5 per book, you'd still have a book for about 50% less than the cover price of your current book. You'd get a higher royalty, too.

So yes I am correct on this.

International rates are not the same as US rates. Bulk buying is best done by direct contact with Lulu.

But she's not buying internationally.

My point was, you were wrong when you said it would have been the same price for Alice to self publish.

If I had a dollar for every time I was wrong, I would be very rich. So would you, I guess. Alice cannot order through Lulu as a self-published author. She is published by Mandinam Press.

The book on Amazon for which I added a link was self-published on CreateSpace. The book is a different size and does not have the same number of pages as Alice's book -- but it is the same price. As Alice pointed out, she cannot set the price of her book, but the self-published author can -- and he set the price at $29.99. Whether he should or should not is not my concern. He did. It's there for everyone to see. That's the only point I was making.

Heh, heh, heh! When I achieve my best seller status, my publisher will get rich and famous and that will make me very happy.

You can all say you knew me, that I was not a writer, but just a clever judge of publishers and had very loyal friends.

As for shipping--Amazon does it for free.

As I see it, just write. I am in the middle of complicated personal stuff that has just destroyed my momentum. Once I get going again, however, there's no stopping me either. Three novels are in the works, it's just getting the "works" going that's another matter.

One thing has changed. If I wish to buy a book --my own book, I get it from Amazon. The price is good, shipping free and no one tries to get me to do it.

Furthermore it helps my ratings.

I am still glad I went with PA because that was then. but times change.

PA has by no means stopped their book offers.

I get them everyday Even with their discount they are pricey.
So, I went to Amazon and bought 5 more of my swamp books.

I believe all PA authors get daily emails.
My delete button is showing wear.

Why would they say they were discontinuing the offers and then continue them?
