I checked out the site LC talked about, what I'm looking for is many different color version of scenes like a barnyard, geese, chickens, kittens, squirrels, owls, turtles....The sight she talks about has photos.
Cheers..Joe |

| Betty Faisig had a bunch of those that she used for a coloring book to accompany her Wooffer book. Maybe she can point you to her source. They may still be up at her web site. I have not been there recently. |

| Joe, they're photos, but you can transform photos into art with your software programs. Like you did with the photo of the groceries I once posted, remember?
Another thought: Adobe Illustrator is a program that would enable you to draw what you want. Since you like drawing so much, it might be worth your while to buy it. To get it cheap, enroll in a class at a local community college and buy it at their bookstore. Adobe sells their software very cheap to students. Then drop the class before paying for it, lol. |

I downloaded a program last night for Illustration, haven't played with it yet ! My problem is I have to figure out how to make the story lines short under the art, Example: " Little kitten, I'm not a cat ! I'm a squirrel, my name is Roger." Is that how it should look ?

| Let the editor sort that out for you, Joe. Find the illustrations and indicate where they should be added to the text. |

| Joe, there are other publishers similar to PA without their stain. In all fairness, they were among the first to take on any author with a story and print a beautiful book at no initial cost to the author.
However, you need someone who publishes children's books. If your story has a spiritual theme, you might try a Christian publisher. Just a thought. |

| What about Blurb? It's a do it yourself, but seems to have some support at reasonable cost. |

| Hi Betty,
Alice's book is available now. I've added the book to the Mandinam Press website. As soon as Alice receives her copy, the book will be sent for distribution on Amazon. At this stage, corrections can still be made before the book is distributed. Alice should receive her copy any day now and will tell everyone if the book is ready for others to buy. Here's the book on the publisher's website:

| Joe, if you wrote your book using Word, that's about all you need. Gather the illustrations into a folder on your computer. Use Word's Insert/Picture/From File... command. That embeds the picture in the manuscript. Then justify it, drag on the corners to resize the picture and fit it on the page, and double-click the picture to open the Format Pictuer dialogue that lets you crop it, wrap text around it, just about anything you need.
I have found Word to be up to just about any book publishing task. It will auto-hypenate, do drop caps, make formal page headers, footers, and numbering, text styles, and so on. It can make you grind your teeth, but once you learn how to exercise each of the features, it's a great program.
And with one of the free PDF printer emulators, you can make a file suitable for uploading to the POD outfits.
It will also convert your manuscript to html format to create an e-book.
And I think the Mac version is the same.
If you get into it and have questions, I am happy to help with what I've learned so far. |

The older versions of Word don't have that feature. 2002, for example. I won't upgrade because they munged up the user interface trying to appeal to the technically challenged and made it harder to work with. A pdf printer emulator (my name for them) is a program that, when you install it, looks like a printer to the applications that print. It writes the output to the pdf file of your choosing. The one I use is called CutePDF. It supports any page size and has a version called CutePDF Pro that lets you add linked tables of contents, pull mulitple PDFs into a single PDF, juggle page order, insert blank pages, delete pages, and a bunch of other features I haven't used yet. |

| Dear Alice, "They," are your lovely book and Shelagh's Power of Persuasion and Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine. I needed those for my grand-daughter who will read them to my great grand, Ayden, who is quite the smartest child I have ever met, except for you and Shelagh and Ann and David and Joe and Abe and the goblin, of course, along with Zada And JoElle...Dang! there are so very many of us kids here! I forgot to add E. Don Harpe, who is a beaut, and The Mad Hatter, Rhett, and most of all our Carol. God bless our Carol. Love, Betty |
