I'm always proud to be an American. Sometimes I feel shame for some of the behaviors exhibited in this country and abroad by U. S. Citizens; however, I would choose to be a citizen of no other country in the world. I am grateful that I was born where freedoms and choices are part of the fabric of my country. I am grateful for a political system, though flawed, that does include the mechanics for change through peaceful means. We are fortunate to have so many resources at our disposals; we just need the wisdom to use them wisely and for the benefit of the most people. The gifts of the earth belong to no one person or elitist group. Air, land, minerals, water - they were all here before we arrived. They are for the benefit of all, not the profit of a few or to be destroyed by a few.
