We'll I got the bad news today , I have to See the eye specialist on Oct. 15th , I found out today when they dilated my eyes I have Cataracts , my left eye is worse than the right ! So I'll have to have the left one done first , then he'll do the right one. The good news is I may not need glasses .....Always have your eyes dilated, two years ago I refused thinking I couldn't drive a car, I was wrong, if I had it done then , it wouldn't be so bad now.....
Cheers..Joe |

| Dear Joe, Sorry to hear of your troubles with your eyes. You will be fine and see much better. Eyes heal quickly. When I think of what can be done for eyes these days and what could not way back when and how children were not even believed when they said they could not see, I think this world has come a little way. Until I was in 4th grade, no one paid any attention to my lack of sight. My mother said that I just wanted to call attention to my self.
I could not see. I looked at my feet all the time to watch my every step, and ran head on into trees. Miss Hart took me for glasses. I will never forget her. She stood up and changed my life. She was my 4th grade teacher. My vision was 2000/20.
Since then, so much is possible for vision. I can walk around this day with 20/20. At night, I sleep with blind eyes.
I wish you the very best with your eyes. You look out and see the beauty of this world.
Love, Betty |

Betty....Alice..
Thank you ! Yes your eyes are important, I need mine to do my photography, which I love... It's funny they had me see through my right eye with my left eye shut, perfect, then close my right eye and see through my left eye, what a shock, everything was blurred , a little scary, but I know it'll turn out fine..
Love Joe |

| Many people in later life get cataracts. Fortunately, today they are easily removed. Mine are progressing and within a few months they will need to be removed. My wife had it done last year. They did one eye, waited for that to heal, then the second one. She can see much better and uses her glasses only to read. |

| My eye surgery for cataracts was miraculous! Now I see without glasses. One of the most exciting experiences was when I could see he little squares in our window screens. I hadn't seen them in years!

| Sorry to hear about this Joe. I hear its a routine op done in thousands all over the world. For me the whole touching the eye thing is a bit unsettling. Hope it goes well for you. |

| Afterwards you will probably have a regimen of eye drops. No problem really.

| My mother was given a video of her eye surgery. Fortunately they show it afterwards--it inspired me to buy and wear sunglasses and I think of it evry time I don't have them when it is bright out. Joe you are in my prayers--wish it was over--the waiting is hard. |

I always wear dark sun glasses, here the sun is strong and I have light eyes ( Green) fair skin, so I won't take the sun, no good for the skin or eyes...

That's pretty gross. Who would want to watch that? Besides a med student. |

| My oldest daughter had lasik surgery to correct her nearsightedness last year. she was awake and conscious the whole time. She says that what she remembers the most was that there was a fuzzy outline of a basketball on the ceiling. Then, the very second after the doctor worked on her first eye, she saw that the basketball, very sharp image now, had San Antonio Spurs written quite clearly on the face of it. She saw halos for a day or so, but now has perfect 20/20 vision.
I'm told the cataract procedure is very similar.

Next Friday the 29th the left eye, then on Nov. 11th the right eye. I have been waiting since the beginning of Sept. it's nerve wrecking. The doctor claims I won't need glasses maybe for reading but not seeing distance. Can't wait for it to be over with, they claim it takes 2 1/2 hrs but the surgery itself is 10 minutes , they claim procedure and yes they do give you drugs to calm you down...
Cheers..Joe |

| Joe,
You will be amazed by how much better you will see afterwards. You are in my prayers. God is watching over you.
I am so glad you are having the surgery. My grandmother went completely blind because she was too afraid to have the operation. The surgery is very successful for most people. Your friend,
Alice. |
