| http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100702/ap_on_re_us/us_blagojevich_trial Poor guy was so stressed about money because he and his wife spent over $400K in 6 years on clothes. Of course he needed to sell Obama's Senate seat to raise cash! |

| When I was a political intern, I missed my mark. I should have stayed in D.C. and learned to be a big spender. They say you receive what you vision: I obviously visioned too small. |

| Well, the ambitious ones do seem to get others (companies, lobbyists) to fund their sprees. I think we just see the tip of the iceberg when a few are caught.
Too bad we can't all be like that guy in Alaska, who had "no idea" where $100K of home improvements came from, since "his wife took care of all that!" lol! |

| I only know the man from the bad news. He sounds like he believed he's done no wrong. It seems to be the nature of many people today. |

| He was raised and lived within a system. He worked within the rules of the system. It was okay to him because that's how it was always done. He broke only one of the system's rules: Don't get caught. "You can't fix stupid." -- Ron White |

| Hey...all he has to do is publicly appologize, say he was misdirected, and all is forgiven...right? Seems to be the new trend. |

| I do not feel sorry for him.
He caused his own trouble. He thinks everyone is stupid. |

| I was at the hair salon today and read a People magazine article about the bankruptcy filing of the Guidices (Teresa of Real Houswives of NJ fame). They blamed it on the "bad economy," but their spending made the Blagos look like amateurs. The husband says he doesn't regret it, because if "they didn't live like they do, they wouldn't have a TV show."

| I have lived within my means all my life; more luxurious when my income was higher (Mercedes instead of Hyundai); a larger home; more vacations; but I always looked for value and followed a budget. I saved for the future. I contributed to good causes, a tithe when I felt spiritually inclined.
There have been people all around me that spent everything, saved nothing, went bankrupt every 10 years and lived high all the time. They still live high. They run up the consumer credit and unload it in bankruptcy. Their friends bail them out until they, too, run into a wall.
I understand a reorganization. I understand unforeseen circumstances: fires, floods, hurricanes, business failures, illness, etc. I don't understand frivolous spending receiving the benefit of bankruptcy.
It feels like stealing to me. Credit was extended for actual services and products received. Why bother paying at all? Just walk away with them. Worse is done to the pitiful mother who swipes groceries to feed her children or writes a bounce check she intends to cover - but cannot.
So many things I do not understand. |
