| While I write I drink tea. It’s a vice but a relatively mild one and better than smoking or snacking. I also pop in here and I look out at the Caribbean Sea. It’s remarkable I get anything written.

| Your desk looks at Carribean also? Cool. Wave and I'll let you know if I see you. |

| The Caribbean sea is so beautiful and rich. I have just bought two spiny lobster for supper. The season closes the end of the month so we will eat a few over the next couple of weeks.
One of the fisherman had caught and killed a green turtle. The turtle season closed the same time as the lobster season. They also kill pilot whales which they sell as black fish. Some of the people here are poor and I can’t criticise them for wanting to fed their families.
The penalty for catching lobster or turtle out of season is imprisonment. |

| My landlord invited me to eat here and I was already eating plate of meat when he told it was sea turtle. (Which has no season here...totally illegal) Of course, he's the mayor of the island |

| I will not tell my daughter-in-law about this discourse, Mike and Lin. She would have you both hanged, drawn, and quartered. Ann |

| While I write, I usually drink green tea. It helps me get settled and focused.

| I don't have a routine when it comes to writing, however I take breaks, like taking a walk, to refresh my thinking. |

| When I write, I can go for hours without eating or drinking. I just sit there and keep going until I come to a good place to stop (or my legs and butt get numb, whichever comes first). |

| Actually more like Salisbury steak. Turtle meat is generally dark. |

| Salisbury steak? I thought that was a product of college dorm cafeterias, not something found in nature, lol.
Birds must like Salisbury steak. I saw a nature show once where a bird lifted a turtle high up in the air, dropped it to crack its shell, then feasted. Mother nature is a mean bitch! |

| Helen, I'm like you. I can go hours without eating while I'm writing. I know that I've gone to long without writing something new when I start to tip the scales. I listen to music when I write. |

| Word processor on one screen. Research materials on the other. Coffee. Silence. Think about the theme. |

| Coffee. Lots of coffee. Dark, rich. Then, maybe a salty snack later... |

"...well mostly I think while I write..." went the goblin now, neither meaning that as some sort of joke, nor saying it out of sarcasm here, where no it was just plain fact to him, as in slowing oneself down and switching off dailylife's distractions once more, where then just musing over the context of something that someone had posted previously as in "feeding" perhaps, or else in simply chewing over something that the muse had uttered during his busy day, that in either case, now needed careful ironing out in long thoughtful moments here, so the goblin just concluded "...no, it's not the writing bit which I enjoy now, so much as the choosing of those words and lines which most parallel my thoughts, simply writing forces me to choose amongst them each time, and commits me to show a result within this slot here, whereas mere thinking doesn't hold this same commitment at all, perhaps it's the difference between "fruitful" and "fruitless" thinking then..." |

| When I am posting an answer to a forum question, I do as goblin does. I slow down and think about the question and what the best words would be to express my thought. Sometimes I am not brilliant.
When writing a story, everything else is shut off and there I am with the characters and the words. It is transendental.
I get few chances to be transendental these days. It takes QUIET and more than a little Zen.
I write best at night when everyone and everything is asleep but me.
Love, Betty |
