Sheesh! You all missed Malcolm's point and mine!

I answered his post here on Chatterbox, because he put it here. But...I was talking about the forum in general: starting posts in their appropriate places, not here on chatterbox, and keeping them to the subject. Your posts above just proved my point. I feel that I have wasted my time again. I just wanted to let Malcolm know I agreed with him.

I have no more comment on this topic. I am going back to work.

What coud we have said that would make you feel as though your time were well spent?
Excellent question, Alice.

I'm sorry to hear that, Abe. If you look on the Stodghill Says So board, you will see that some of Dick's blog posts received a good response while some did not. It didn't stop Dick posting his blogs. He had a passion for writing and wrote to please himself. If others wanted to read his stuff, he was happy to receive their comments. He didn't worry if nobody responded. But that was Dick. I miss him.

You're right Shelagh. I wouldn't even think of comparing what I write with that of Dick, and realizing that not all he wrote got a response, I shall reconsider.

Abe,

Reconsider, reconsider. I never considered anything you said as lip-flapping. They were often thought provoking.

And Carol, remember that Dick also posted his blogs to his websites. there are many readers here who might not know to read your at CaringBridge. You could always post them here more often, too.

Carol you are a wonderful lady with a great depth of personality.
It isn't any wonder that folk are interested in how you are doing.
You have so much to contribute through your writing. Where are the writing discussions - Page 2 467431

Since the topic has been raised, I wish to discuss publishing.

Sue, You are a publisher.

Shelagh, You are a publisher also

Would you please each answer these questions?

1. How many books have you published?
2. Do you employ an editor?
3. Are your books available in book stores?
4. Do you advertise your books?
5. How do you deal with complaints?
6. Do you have illustrators?
7. How do you price your books?
8. What commission do you pay?
9. Do you pay an advance?

Thanks!
1. I have published four books:

Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine (first published by PublishAmerica)
The Power of Persuasion
Forever Friends
Literature & Fiction Interviews

2. No. I am editor at Mandinam Press.

3. The Power of Persuasion and Forever Friends can be ordered in any bookstore.

Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine
(published by PublishAmerica) can be ordered in any bookstore (published by Mandinam Press not available in bookstores).

4. I do not pay to advertise the books but Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine appeared in Lancashire Life (glossy magazine):

http://lancashire.greatbritishlife.co.uk/

I received the following email message today:

Quote :
Because your book - "Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine" - made it to the BookBuzzr
Top 10 list, your widget now has a Top 10 Badge.

This is designed to give your book greater credibility and improve sales for your book. You may see the badge on your widget here -

http://www.freado.com/book/3987/Mr.-Planemaker's-Flying-Machine

Only 73 books out of over 3,500 books have been issued this badge so far.

The Power Of Persuasion is in the top three on the best literary fiction list on Goodreads:

http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1425.Best_Literary_Fiction_

Forever Friends
appeared in the TCW (Today's Chicago Women) magazine:

http://shelaghwatkins.wordpress.com/2009/09/23/248/

5. I find complaints difficult. Fortunately, all the issues raised (dealing with forty-six contributors and eighteen interviewees) were resolved.

Forgive me I think this reply was meant for another thread. That is the peril of having more than one window open on the same board. I must be having a funny half hour wierd.
I now have to find where it was meant to go. Where are the writing discussions - Page 2 Icon_redface

David,

That was my fault. I posted a post at the same time as Alice and realized mine didn't fit, so I deleted mine.

Thanks for the kind words.

Carol

I just posted that I have learned a lot from my caringbridge site. I have made 52 journal entries, had 200 guestbook replies and 1348 visits.

That is all surprising to me. The guestbook entries have come from friends from all parts of my life. I emailed my address book, and got the response I did.

Beside the caring, it shows that perhaps people really do care about what I have to say.

Love, Carol
