How well do you think a biography book of a
Hollywood star do ? Do you think it would be a hit?

It's an idea I started months ago, originally
I did write a book in the 70's but at the time I
went about it the wrong way trying to interview
famous actors, many were polite, many refused
to talk, so I came up with a different concept, I
have to write more pages to see if it's worth it.

alj is right. I'd expand that to say it needs more than "old Hollywood star". Needs something extra, more cinematic or novelistic or whatever. Fatty Arbuckle, Lupe Velez, Tom Mix, Charlie Chaplin... all had gripping "real world" stories.
There was even a film about George Reeves lately, because of his mysterious death.

Good to see you back..It's actually about
someone who's very famous, I shouldn't have said
Old Hollywood, I guess because I grew up on that
and they did have talent, compared to todays so
called Hollywood where they want to be in the lime
light every few seconds. I've read in the old days the
news reporters respected the actors....So I have to
see how this turns out....This will not be one of those
scandalous books, but a look at the human side of this
person...

How do you plan to research it? Do you have access to people who knew the subject and can give you info that isn't already public knowledge?

I have the info I needed, just trying to
make a decision plus I have to have the cover
created I won't pay for rights to photos, too
expensive....

Maybe not. It was a long time ago. If they are studio photos, and the studio still exists, send them a registered letter asking for permission. You don't have to get a positive response, and considering the time, and the likelihood of the photos now being public domain, the studios are mor likely than not to simply not respond, and as long as you have the proof of asking for permission, you can use them.

Look into the regulations on public domain. You might find it's a non-issue.

I may have to have a friend of mine do
the art work for me, many photos will say Public
Domain , then when you get to them, there' s
fee, you don't know who to trust because you
have to be careful what you use...
