Hi E Don,

I like the egg plant addition.

Hickory Dickory Dock.
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck ten
The mouse ran down again.

See what I mean?

Even the smallest child I know plays video games. How can that compete? It needs something.

Love,
Betty

Betty, there were some rather bawdy versions of the rhymes back in the days when Redd Foxx and Moms Mabley were at the top of their games. I still remember most of them, but can't (or won't) post them here.

Moms brought new meaning to the pumpkin eater rhyme, however, and she was very funny.

A friend and I went to see her in Nashville one night, and were just about the only two white people in the crowd. Loved the show. Gladys Knight opened for her, and at the time she only had one Pip singing with her. Sometime in the early sixties.

Betty,

My parents read me to sleep with Wynkin, Blynkin and Nod, and later, it was the first story Lynn memorized. She would recite it to Susan as they both fell asleep together.

It helps me get to sleep even today. It is the last of Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes' Bedtime Stories, a CD that explains that being a grown-up is just a disguise we wear during the daytime, before she begins reciting tales to go to sleep by. I keep it on my iphone, and go to sleep to it every night. (since I dont have a David (or Tom).
