As many of you know, my wife and I are currently in the process of moving to Georgia. We’ll be living near Americus, which is only a few miles from Plains. Plains is where former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn live.
My granddaughter lives in Plains and attends the same church as President Carter, and knows him and his wife quite well.
Last week while we were at our daughter’s home making sure everything was right for the move, my great-grandson Aiden was there. Aiden is four years old, and already is quite the talker.
One of the people on Saturday was talking to Aiden about where he lives and the people he knows, and they asked him if he had neighbors named Mister and Mrs. Carter. “No,” he replied, “but we have neighbors named Jimmy and Rosalyn.”
How about that? My four year old great-grandson is on a first name basis with a former President of the United States. Say what you want about President Carter, I say that if he’s friendly to my grandkids and great-grandkids, that’s all I have to know about him as a person. |

| That's amazing, Don. Guess the old saying about kids and dogs knowing true character is right. |

| If I remember, that was considered President Carter's handicap, the fact that he was a man of character. |

| Nope, not this time. Hard to tell when I'm serious, isn't it? Most of the time, when I tell a family story, it's one that I just want to share because I think it's interesting. Anything else is pretty much stuff I've made up. Or else it's when I post my opinion on something. Come to think of it, that's pretty much made up too, isn't it? |

| President Carter was and continues to be a person I respect. His integrity is still intact. Of course I may be a bit prejudiced since I have corresponded with him and value the handwritten notes he sent to me. |

| From what I understand, Abe, that is his normal way of doing things. Says a lot about his character. |

| E.Don,
Former President Carter was probably the most intelligent president we ever had.
He was a nuclear physicist sp and not a bit dim.
Unfortunately raw intelligence wasn't suffiicient for the job.
I am beginnig to wonder what is.
Glad you are back here. |
