Betty, I found a song I wrote some 10 or 12 years ago. It's about memories, just not about the good ones we've been talking about here. It's called Family Photograph.

____________________________
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPH

He always talked about her, when he'd had a drink or so

Like she left just the other day, not twenty years ago

And he always showed her picture, to anyone who asked

He always cried, but he had pride, in his family photograph.

There's a little girl who's holding on to Daddy's strong right hand

And a boy the spitting image of the tall dark handsome man

And the woman there beside him, he liked to call his better half

That was way back when he was happy in, is family photograph.

Just a black and white old Kodak photograph that's badly worn

It's faded and it's wrinkled and it's taped where it's been torn

Time has shown no mercy on this picture of the past

Or the man who tried to keep love alive, with a family photograph.

The woman went away one day and took the little girl

And you'd have thought that she took all the sunshine from his world

But he raised me to be a man, and my Daddy's last request

Was when he went to sleep, I'd let him keep, his family photograph.

Just a black and white old Kodak photograph that's badly worn

It's faded and it's wrinkled and it's taped where it's been torn

Time has shown no mercy on this picture of the past

Or the man who tried to keep love alive, with a family photograph.

Dear E. Don,

I have wondered of late, if what is in your own brain ever comes out just as it is thought up by you and is understood by anyone who is reading your words, sitting next to you and breathing in your essence, with love in their heart for you, with love in your heart for them, or if we all just live this lonely mental life and the rest of it is hope that never is realized.

That is where the music and the poems come in. I imagine that. Music is so very powerful that it takes a whole part of the brain that can never ever forget it once it is heard and the melody and words are forever ...it keeps a person sane.

I rememeber the words to every song I ever heard, mostly. and that is what keeps lonely people sane. Everyone is lonely and that is why music and the song is so wonderful. You can have the loving family and lots of kids, grands, friends, co-workers who kiss your ass, your mom, your grand mom and all the grand dads in the word, but the music is what has kept you going on all the time. It is what expresses the YOU that no one understands

I think that I will play music over my farm...loud...Sara Brightman.... Vegetables love that.

The Green tomato's and the okra are up for grabs. I imagine a little Doug Kershaw.....Do you have a cd I could play here?

Love,
Betty

Well, Betty, it's not something you could play to the squash, but if you look here, you can hear a few of my songs. Mind you, the first one is stone country, and not all that uplifting.

If you do, let me know if you like any of them.

And you are right, it is surely the music that keeps me going, and writing the music that keeps me nearly sane.

Dear E. Don,
I listened to you sing and read your verse and your stories. I see that you are not just another pretty face! You have many talents.

Now, if we could get Ahad to shine those three flashlights in your direction....well who knows. Perhaps he could illuminate a star....you.

Love,
Betty

Betty, Don is already a superstar... I question if he needs anymore illuminating?

Very Happy
