Sorry Dick! In a community here in Wa., a woman was asleep when her smoke alarm went off. She slept through the alarm, but her cat jumped up on her, pawing at her until she woke. The cat is now a hero!! Of course, the house burned to the ground, but she and the cat are now cozy in their cardboard box under the floating bridge.

Cats are wonderful people. They are so clean. They go potty in their litter box and are nothing but sweet. They never chase a car, watch your property ceaselessly. I had a marvelous, shrewd cat who sat on our roof and looked over everything. A repairman entered our garage--she puffed herself up and hissed at him. I love cats.

There have been cases of cats attacking intruders, so a 'watchcat' is a very good thing to have, especially if the 'watchdog' out side has not been deterent enough!

I knew there was a reason you are so smart and accomplished. If you had lived with dogs and no cats all of that time you'd be very limited.

And not being allergic is a definite asset. When we went to visit our daughter in Virginia last month, we had to stay in a hotel as her cat roams her house and loves the guest room. My husband says I've become a high maintenance wife with all these little medical problems I have! Carol

That cat wasn't trying to save the woman. He was telling her, "Get me outta here!"

We are currently on the lookout for a kitty. This is a bit of a challenge with my allergies, but I have managed before and will do so again. I just have to keep it out of my bedroom. My daughter, who is working extremely hard with university is suffering the pangs of loneliness often, and could use some furry company. We've got all the accoutrements standing by and are waiting for news from our friend at the vet clinic (which operates with a sideline in rescue ops). There are many cats in this neck of the woods because folks are loathe to invest the money to spay and neuter, so it's only a matter of time before one that she'll love appears. Until then, we remain cat owner wannabees...

Bumper sticker: Looking for your cat? Check under my wheels. Don't blame me, it isn't on my car.

It's the truth, and I had nothing to do with it. The bumper sticker was on a pickup truck in Akron. I have been unable to find a similar one for our car.
