| Thanks Zada, "Will you be my Valentine" was something I remember from my grade school days. Swapping cards was fun. Haven't paid much attention to Valentine's Day since. My son's birthday is on Valentine's Day (today) and that seemed to override the Valentine Day event.
I'll take your advice. |

| My brother died on Valentine's Day two years ago, and my father was buried on Valentine's Day fourteen years ago.
This year, for the first time in many years, I sent out Valentines to my family. (I used to do this all the time.) This is a task much greater than just signing my name and putting stamps on the envelopes. And since my husband has had to take me everywhere, he has gotten a little annoyed hanging out in card departments while I find just the right card for each person. (There were twenty people I sent cards to.)
I had to take a list each time. Cards for grandsons and son-in-laws are the most difficult. I can send several people the same card, but not in the same family. I have a few left for next year, but I've got to make sure I don't send anyone the same card next year that I sent this year.
My husband was really glad when this project was completed and those cards were on their way.
I have one for him also. It is on the coffee table in front of me.
Love ya all on this day,
Carol |

| Marie, that is delightful. Another Hallmark moment for us, courtesy of you. Thank you! |

| After years of ear rings, rings, flowers and everything else, simple things seems to mean more to us now. Last night I brought my wife a card and a Baskin-Robbins banana split. We shared it together.
We will probably go somewhere today and eat, but somehow after 27 years together we seem to have given each other everything. We don't need watches, rings, clothes and we have been to enough places. Now simpler gestures seem to mean much more.
A call from our son in the Navy should top it off. |

| How sweet, DT. Many couples who have been together a great many years have the same feeling. My bitter half says we have 'gone beyond it' (Valentine exchanges). But we will be going to a Valentine's dinner and dance later on tonight. I don't think I will be doing much dancing, but it will be fun, just the same. |

| Bah, humbug! Oh wait, that's for another day. OK, I hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day. My favorite came in 1929 when seven men in a garage on North Clark Street in Chicago were gunned down by . . . oh, never mind. I received a valentine from Jackie and Jackie got one from me and Sophie got one from Ralph, the Hallmark hamster on my screensaver although Sophie didn't think much of it because she couldn't eat it and Ralph needed some help from me in making it. |

I'll take your advice. There we go again.
I will never forget your son's birthday now.
My son's birthday was four days ago ... his very best friend's (who we've practically adopted as our own kid) birthday is today.
But now it will also be the "day our son came home" day.

| JoElle there is nothing like a homecoming to make a day memorable. My daughter and I rented a couple of movies, ate a bit of chocolate, and now it's very late and I am going to turn in, except that I feel about a month behind things here. So maybe a little poking around first, and turning in later. Yeah, that sounds right! |

| They say that history is written by the winners. That means we never really get the other side of the story! I am so glad your son is home, and if that makes the day more special for you, JoElle, I say that is even better. What could be more special than a homecoming? Give him a hug for me and a 'thank you' if you get the chance! |
