| Greetings everyone, after searching the web this morning to find the best and most active authoring forum to join, I chose this one. I am but a mere tenderfoot to authoring. I will humbly submit a few questions to you the experienced professionals, and offer up my advice and experience later as I gain it.
My first book titled Survive & Succeed... In Spite of a Bankrupt and Bailout Economy, is scheduled to arrive to market in approximately two weeks. My website is under construction, which is one of the reasons that brought me here, is www.careerbailout.com In a few days I will have basic content there for a couple of graphic artists to review and make improvements, right now there is nothing but a place holder.
I appreciate any advice you can offer me based on your real world experiences. I look forward to interacting with you all via this forum. Thank you, Mike Perry |

| Hi Mike,
Welcome to the group. Where in Florida do you live? I grew up in Tallahassee; one of my brothers lives in the Orlando area. I live about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Will your web site have a blog attached to it? Book promotion experts consider blogs--attached to the site or not--to be an essential part of the deal. Also, having a strong presence in social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace (with links to your blogs and web site) are also part of establishing an Internet Presence.
If you're already on any of those social networking sites, look me up at:

Best of luck with your site and your book.
Malcolm |

| Thank you Shelagh. What time is it in Scotland? It must be late in the evening? Scotland looks lovely from video and photos I've seen. I would love to come and visit someday. Take care, Mike |

| Thank you very much. I thought it represented my style. I'm a little like Robin Hood. I don't steal from anyone, but I do give to those in need. As a working professional I am as nice and helpful as I can be to nice people, but I will draw an arrow and let it fly toward evil doers in a second! So similar to Robin Hood if you use your imagination. Also I am young and hansome like the character depected with thick lustorious hair. Okay not really, but people regularly do come up to me and ask if I am a famous musician. I will leave you to wonder which one. I like your avatar as well. You appear to be an attractive young lady, and in no way am I opposed to large ears! Oh wait, my character has large ears as well! I belive the Big Bad Wolf said, "The better for hearing you my dear." ;-) |

| Superb! Where did you visit in Florida? My wife and I would love to visit England one day. I live on the ocean near St Augustine. It is a lovely historical town but rather chilly this time of year. It was 37 degrees farenheit this morning. Mike |

| We stayed at Rotunda West, near Englewood on the Gulf Coast. For the first three weeks the temperatures were in the low 80sF. The week before we left they dropped to the upper 60s. Everyone was wearing coats except us! When we left the thermometer was climbing again, though. |

| That sounds nice. This time of year it can be 50 one day then 80 the next, one just never knows. The good part is it never is very cold for very long in the winter. I'm glad you had a nice time. Mike |

| Hi Mike,
It seems like your website is coming along very well! I like your sense of humor. Your book sounds very timely and not only informative, but entertaining, too.
I was wondering though, what are strumpets?

| Someone is reading my website aside from me! That's exciting! I'm still working on the content and I have a graphics lady working on nice looking graphics. We have made good progress but the site has a little way to go, I'm not trying to draw many people to it yet until it looks better. Right now its a bit embarrassing. :-) Strumpets is the word Jim Carey used for crumpets in the movie Dumb and Dumber proving that he and Jeff Daniels were very out of touch with the high society that they were trying to blend into. I thought it was humorous and adopted the word and phrase "Tea and strumpets." You are very sharp to catch that. ;-) Within the next couple of days I will annouce the site opening in the appropriate forum here and ask you all for feedback. Also I will offer all of you a free copy of the e-Book in case you want to read or you know someone who could use the content in this struggling economy. This is an exciting time for me. I awoke at 5:00am and couldn't sleep thinking of all the marketing things I have yet to do including completing the website. It was a good early awakening. Thank you for the feedback and your kind words. Mike |

| To understand the full humour of Jim Carey's faux pas, you need to know what the word actually means: http://www.answers.com/strumpet |
