It is the biggest full moon of 2009:

Thanks for the link to the info on the full moon, JoElle! I've been noticing how much brighter my backyard has been these last few days as the moon gets to it's fullest. I'll definitely be out there tonight checking it out!

Helen,

I will look too--if it is not pouring down rain.

I love the moon.

Thanks,

If you live in Kirkland, the chances are good, sorry to say. :-)

Here the chances or rain at any given moment are like, probably not, but who knows what will happen in 5 minutes.

I noticed the illumination last night. I was walking around on the cliffs and beach almost as easily as in daylight.

I wish it could rise early like in October, though, come up over the Caribe with that sort of of size and brightness.

Thanks for the reminder, JoElle, but the skies over Akron haven't been clear since October, and that's normal. Mention it again when it happens around May.

Thanks for the heads up JoElle. I will take a look and will be thinking of you driving along in the moon light. I do hope you weren't caught in the awful flooding we have been having here.

The community was a little like an island for a day or two, but it is all flowing away now. I might even make it to town today, if the bridges haven't washed out!

How was your flight back home?

Tomorrow Night ... Empty
PostSubject: Re: Tomorrow Night ...   Tomorrow Night ... EmptySat Jan 10, 2009 8:30 am

So glad you asked--I have been dying to tell extensively about it.

Frst off it was snowing when we left Berrien Springs by motorcar to get to South Bend Indiana to catch a Coach bus to Midway Airport.

The temperature was 25 F a virtual heatwave compared to the 3. It was a medium sort of a day (we had temperatures from 3 to 60)

Second off our bus gave up--made a whining noise and belched a cloud of black smoke.

They transferred us to the bus behind and as I was walking carefully in the snow to avoid falling, a kind lady grabbed me to help me.

I explained to her that I ran on batteries and still smile when I think of what went through her head.

She must have figured I was totally insane but not dangerous as she helped me again.

We got to the airport we boarded our plane were de-iced and 10 snowplows went like a military convey down the
take-off strip.

We took of uneventfully after several hours of smooth flying I noticed the seat belt sign was still lit.

I said to my seat mate, "I hope the pilot is awake."

He laughed and said "Did you hear about the pilots who put the plane on automatic pilot and overshot their destination by an hour?"

We would be over the ocean if that ocurred. The good news--it didn't happen.

Our pilot was awake and we landed just fine to a welcoming downpour of rain. rain and more rain.

Picture if you can, on this dreary, nasty night, the shuttle taking us home. It took other people as well. We pulled up to a lonesome secluded dark house--the elderly lady went first pulling her luggage while her hubby paid the driver. I waited in vain for a light to come on.

The husband walked into the dark house as well . I said , "Don't you think this is strange?" I could not get anyone to worry about it. It still bothers me.

I wish I had insisted the van driver call the house to see if all was well.

I need to become more assertive.

We always turn off the electricity if the house is empty, Alice. Maybe the elderly couple do the same. I'm sure light was restored eventually. sunny

Thanks, Shelagh,

I hope you are right. I am freaked out because my mother-in-law tripped in the dark and fell,

If it had been me, the first thing I'd have done was restore electricity.

It did not happen and I have visions of two elderly folks lying in a heap until who knows when.

Next time I will insist upon a quick phone call. I would rather know than assume.

No. Haven't been up that way in a few weeks.
Though we are almost to Atlanta and then we will be taking that load up to Portland, OR.

Hoping the water levels will be better by the time we get there.

Our company is based in Tacoma and it has been bad for the office people.
And I have a lot of family in Oregon.

Wondering if I should pack an inflatable raft just in case???? Shocked

Dear JoElle,
I just wrote the 2 page letter to respond and tell you how much you are loved and respected and and all about how lichen and algae and cisterns and life are connected and WALAAH, it disappeared. I did the posting thing wrong and now here I am. I will never remember the genius that I wrote the first letter to you. Isn't that always the way? You put out the heart of your heart and then it is evaporated into cyber whatever and you can never remember it again in quite the same way. Like dreams, I only blurt once and never get the same concept back again.

I wanted to tell you that the moon is now photographed. If It comes out, I will post it here.

When I look into the back woods, I see your light. I wondered if it was Lighntening bugs, but , upon consideration, I see that it is your light.

Shine on.

Love,
Betty

At ease, Troopie Dick,

Thanks to that cheerful little comment we went over to their house today---am very pleased to report we saw a light on and a vehicle in the driveway.

Then we took Dave, against his wishes to ER to have his infected head attended to.

I hope your left hand is better by now.lol! lol! lol!

Have you considered becoming a counselor--soothing distraught folks?
You would have fun! So would they.

Best,

Major Genersl Crooker (make that a five star general)

Just a quick tip--it is raining right now (a downpour if you will) so if you need a raft, might I suggest a strong outboard motor on the back?

The moon here in Mass. was covered by snow clouds last night. But even through the clouds, it lit up my whole backyard. Must've been spectacular!

Zada and Alice,
So sorry to hear that you got more rain and missed the full moon completely! I woke up to 6 inches of snow, but it's still falling.

Will spring ever arrive? Oh yeah, it's only January.

Alice, petition 'Queen Christine' and see if she can get the rain to go away!

For those unfamiliar with Washington, Governor Christine Gregoire has been dubbed 'Queen Christine' for her winniing ways and lack of budget control!

Zada,

I do not like that woman's ways--no wonder you want to move,

$15,000,000.00 because she didn't file some paper in a timely manner.

Then she is the governor--twice?

Can't understand why anyone would vote for her.

lol! Zada,

Go on a tirade--tirades are interesting. You are entitled to state your opinions.

Open up your mouth and let them roll--maybe on another thread though.

Jo Elle,

I apologize--I didn't mean to take your thread off topic-- back to the moon.

Believe it ro not my husband told me the moon was out Friday night and he saw it as we walked to the store. When I asked why he did not point it it out to me, he said I was too busy shiverng to notice it.

There ya go--all my fault!
