PostSubject: New Years Resolution!   New Years Resolution! EmptyFri Jan 09, 2009 1:21 pm

You are all probably miles ahead of me and have lofty resolutions such as:
Read more books, write more books, buy more books.

By the time you get as old as I am, you have been over your life with a fine toothed comb and are pretty aware of where you went wrong.

I should have been an abortion--since I could not bring that about--I live with what powers I do have.

It finally came to me--took until yesterday--I will purchase no clothes in 2009.

This does not bode well for the clothing industry and if it begins to slip too far, I will reconsider.

Don't worry I am far from the nudist state and will so remain.

Happy New Year! lol! lol! lol!

PostSubject: Re: New Years Resolution!   New Years Resolution! EmptyFri Jan 09, 2009 1:33 pm

I myself have vowed to give up spinach, collard greens, and broccoli. This shouldn’t be too hard, as I have never eaten them in the past. I was tired of making and breaking resolutions, so this year I made some I think I can keep.

I will join Alice in giving up clothes for 2009. The fact is that underneath my clothes and underwear, I am pretty much nekkid anyway, so it won't be much of an un-coverup.

I saw Hugh Hefner on the TV news this morning, and he looked so comfortable in his robe that I decided that was the route for me.

Oops. Helen has said I cannot go to the new Clint Eastwood movie with her this Sunday in a bathrobe, so I may have to re-think taking part in the Great American Alice Clothes Off of 2009.

E.Don,

You can wear a thing you already own--just nothing new.

I would join you in the eating resolution, but spinach is about all I can eat.

Good luck!

Dear Alice,
I wear clothes, and that is as it should be. If I did not, I would scare young men, children and my David.

David got me a gift certificate for Bealls so I could get some clothes, since I have worn the same stuff for 15 years. I went.

First, I found the low rise stuff, thought that was what they had, was so disappointed because my butt is so low rise that the pants did not fit. I went to Service, They said go to the womens department and there I found stuff that fit my butt which is 12 inches side to side.

My new year resolution stuff is to be kinder to people. I find that I have less and less tolerance for stupidity, or people who want to use me..

For instance, the teacher at the Duette School.

She has come here three times and eaten her way to buying a dollar's worth of stuff. She comes after I am closed. It really breaks my heart that a person will use me so. I have never locked my gate, but I think I will begin tomorrow.

Maybe my resolution will be to be kinder to my own self....as selfish as that seems.

Love,
Betty

Oh, Betty, it isn't selfish, especially for someone who cares for others as you do. You owe it to them, as well as yourself. The theologian, Paul Tillich, is one of those who has said that we must love ourselves if we are to truly love others.

Dear Friends,

I will wear clothes--just will not purchase clothes. Betty, I am freaky without clothes. I would scare the life out of everyone.

Batteries, wires, scars everywhere--that's me.

I do not advocate eliminating the wearing of clothes--just have vowed not to purchase any for one year.

Since I have coats, sweaters, dresses and jeans sufficient to supply an army--it should not be too diffcult,

Alice, I am hoping that I will have to buy new clothes this year - in a smaller size. My resolution is to continue losing weight. I kept it last year. One more year like last, and I can stop buying them for a while.

Ann,

Thank you for reminding me. I have 28 pounds to go, but the clothes will work.

I have lost a lot and still manage to wear the same size. I just have a more relaxed fit.

Bathrobes, I'm telling you all, bathrobes I say. No clothes, just bathrobes.

E.Don,

I am with you. I have a brand new red, soft, cozy one.

Thank Heavens I ordered it last year to wear to Michigan--it came the day I left. My morther-in-law snapped it off of my porch. I have it now,

It is so lovely,

I love soft fluffy bathrobes. I have one with a satin patch that says "Peace Be Within."

Well, I try anyway.

Speaking of clothing, I went to my grandson's basketball game tonight and it was "Breast Cancer Awareness Night" and the team members were wearing pink knee sox. Lots of people were wearing pink shirts.

I just bought a velour lounge set for half price. I keep thinking it will be great since I stay home a lot, but my husband always thinks of places to go. Tomorrow it is my granddaughter's hockey game.

Love, Carol

Carol,

I hope it was pink--if not you will have to buy another one.

I love loungeware. We shall have to meet in our loungeware--that would be funny.

Love,

Alice

New Year's Resolution. I like Don's idea. Don't make any you can't keep. That puts us in the clear. That bathrobe thing seems to be a new wrinkle.
Don, is it the full length robe or the short one? If it's the short one it could be revealing, no?

My bathrobe is an in-between length.

I made a resolution many years ago that I have been able to keep--I resolved to not make anymore resolutions. I never kept them anyway, so it was pointless!
