Some books that are so ingrained into my conscious as books that I would never forget . . .  I began to think about them and decided to re-read them.  It has been over 50 years for most.  I was a different person when I read them at first.  I thought that my understanding of them may have been a little lacking in understanding.  I have selected for my next book, Wuthering Heights.  I am delighted to find that it is a new adventure in reading.  I think I must have been 17 when I first read the book.  I see that my mind has a better appreciation of the writing and the story than I had at that romantic era of mis understanding many things.
I read Anna Karinina and found that Anna was in love with being a married mistress and not so much into motherhood and real life.  I felt sorry for her in the end, but more sorry for Vronsky.
I wonder if anyone else goes back and reads books that they loved and finds that they are as fresh and new to them as they were the first reading.
Love,
Betty

Re-reading books can be a new adventure.  How we comprehend what is written may depend on our mental state at the time.  Consider the Bible and how often it has been read.  Did the words change or was it comprehension?
