PostSubject: Medicare Increase 2016 15-50% Social Security 2016 0 %   Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:30 am

8/27

I read the other night an article that stated Medicare will go up in 2016
anywhere from 15-50% and it has been hinted that Seniors will not get an
increase in their SS in 2016 because it's not needed ! I wonder if Washington
DC lives in the real world ? Second it would be awesome to see 70 Million
Seniors march on Washington ! Third why can politicians get huge raises when
seniors get anywhere from 1% to 3% if their lucky ?

                                          Cheers...Joe.... Shocked

Joe, your comments are spot on.  How can they expect anyone to pay an increase in premiums if they have no increase in income?  Something is very wrong and it has been steadily getting worse.
I was thinking today about the reaction of the citizens to the influx of Migrants in Germany.  There has been a shortage of housing for a long time.  Rent increases make it even worse.  Suddenly migrants appear and the government provides them with housing, clothing and food.  The citizens rebel and take their frustration out on the migrants when they should be taking it out on the government.  World news reports how inconsiderate the Germans are to the migrants.  These isolated incidents are real, but do not reflect the attitude of the citizens as a whole.  As with most things, looking for the cause of dissention provides insight and more truth instead of dealing with the effects.  In the US, there is always money for defence, but never enough for the needs of the citizens.  We are once again the midst of an election process.  I think the candidates should be challenged about the statements they make about what they will do.  I would like to see someone ask the candidate.  “You say if elected you will do “thus and so”.  Are you prepared to resign if you don’t do it?”
We can no longer accept the word of politicians.  If they promise something, they must be held accountable.  As for taxing the rich, I think that sounds good, but the reality shows that it is unlikely to happen.  In my view, every corporation in America should pay some tax.  Corporations that pay no tax is simply wrong.  They use the infrastructure that enables them to conduct business.  A minimum tax should be assessed to ALL corporations in America.  No exceptions.  Special deductions could not be used to reduce the minimum tax.  Unless something is done, I think citizens all across the nation should refuse to pay their taxes unless/until the corporations pay their fair share.  That is revolutionary talk and a non-violent revolution is needed to affect change.  “We the People” need to make those in government understand that we are America.  We must make demands and follow them up with action.  Marching on Washington is one gesture, but if that doesn’t work, a plan “B” should be in place to implement.

Seniors could be a powerful, political force.  However, there are many who have all they need and are not about to support anyone else who has needs.  I just received a disgusting email from a "friend" that was a racist, bigoted view of welfare.  Of course, the "friend" has all he needs.  He doesn't realize that the people he maligns are the ones who are working and supporting the nation while he sits back and lives off his stock market gains - well mostly gains.

If there is no Democratic stopgap in the White House, the Republicans will change social security (remember, they don't need it) and medicare and the Affordable Care Act.  They will reduce funding to those in need - and do nothing to decrease gun violence or provide for mental health care.  All these things work together to create a safe and secure nation.  However, those who have their mansions, their vacations, their household help, their security systems and a life in a bubble only "talk" middle America.  Their main goal is protecting their own wealth at all costs.

A "fair tax" commission of the most brilliant economists across the nation and from other parts of the world should come together and write a taxing plan that favors no one but provides a measure of fairness across all strata so that all who benefit pay with some sort of proportional distribution.  It's not rocket science.  We will all lose some favorite deduction, but for the nation to gain it's worth it.  Paying taxes should not require lawyers and accountants to help the wealthy not pay taxes and services that aren't affordable to the middle who pay more than their proportionate share for the benefits received.  No one should be exempt.  The word "exempt" needs to be deleted from taxation language.  All current subsidies should be ended.  All "incentives" ended.  It may have to be phased in to prevent the economic shock to the freeloaders and profiteers, but it needs to be done.  Major taxation overhaul will eliminate a lot of the false promises.  Following a fair taxation system, then a budget from an equally unbiased, economic commission is possible based on the income.

My favorite principal story is about the school-based budget on which none of the administrators could agree, each department claiming they had more justified expenses.  Finally, the principal said, "I am leaving the room.  You may not leave until you have worked out a budget to which you will all agree."  He left the room.  When lunch time came, he ordered in pizza.  By time to go home, the budget was in place.

I borrowed that story as an administrator for welfare programs.  A previous private provider had lost track of about 15,000 recipients from the data system.  We had to get them back.  We had a marathon weekend of bringing in everyone with ideas and hashing out how to fix the system.  The conclusion was to purchase Publix gift cards in substantial amounts with a grant and advertise throughout the target zip codes that they were available to those receiving welfare payments in those zip codes.  They had to show up in person on weekends at specific, convenient locations.  We timed it just before the holidays.  All staff spent four weekends meeting with droves of people coming to claim their Publix gift card.  Such a plan took total buy in from a marathon session. The logistics were detailed and worked like a Swiss watch.

People know how to make things work.  There is just so much propaganda, greed and self-serving that goes on in this country that not making things work is more profitable.

Added to my above post should be taxes on Churches.  They are a business although they don't want to be so considered.  How much of the church income is used for the poor and needy?  If there is an accounting of money spent for charity?  If so, that portion could be considered tax-free.  It is unconscionable and contrary to religious principles for churches to wallow in wealth when so many people are in need.  Mega churches and private jets are just two of the obscenities.  History of religion reveals the grand cathedrals built on the backs of the poor - the peasants.  The methods may have changed, but the result is the same.

I believe a Flat Tax on everything except food 25% this way
everyone pays no exception, get rid of the regular tax codes and yes
corporations should have all breaks taken away and pay a Flat Tax of
30% of their income, that's it fair and square....And a Flat Tax on the
       religious groups , 25% ......

                                                   Cheers....Joe....... Very Happy

Joe, I too agree that a flat tax, no exemptions or exceptions, is the way to go.  If it were enforced, the tax rate would be exceedingly low considering that everyone would be paying taxes.  I am apalled when corporations make millions and even billions and find ways to pay no tax.  It is time to change that.  We have a voice and it must be used every way possible.

I have always believed no exemptions - including churches - no exemptions means no exemption - no non-profit exemptions - everyone needs to budget in taxes.  What churches do for the poor is a drop in the bucket compared to need - and blessings to those that do more, but they are the exception.
