I want all my friends here to know if I'm not around here in the next few days I maybe in the hospital. It all started late last Monday and now it seems to be getting worse. Last Friday Sept. 26th I had a flu shot, nothing happened but on Monday I started to get like something was cutting off my breathing now mind you I haven't smoked for 80 days ! And each day it seems to get worse I told a friend of mine out of state and he got ticked off at me and told me to call my Dr. at once and I said it could wait to this Monday 10/6 So today I decided to take a ride to photograph the Aspen trees up in the mountains the mountains are 10,000 feet , Santa Fe is 7,500 feet. We'll when I got to the top and got out I coudln't breathe nor catch my breath so I slowly walked back to the car and I remembered I put in my jacket the Spiriva Inhaler I thought when I left the house I should take it with me just in case because of all what has happened this week. So I decided to stop photographing and come home, so I'm being very quiet, I so I will call my Dr. on his cell phone AM in the morning, see what he wants me to do because I have this funny feeling..... Love Joe |

| Joe,
I hope it is only a reaction to the flu shot--mild flu symptoms can occur--or a chest cold. But you can't ignore it. If you can't see your doctor today for any reason, I'd suggest, as Ann did, that you consider the emergency room. Not breathing is an emergency. You could have pneumonia or some other condition that could get worse if untreated. Oxygen may help. Please take care of this--don't put it off. Too many of us have an aversion to seeking treatment--me too--and too many pay the price.
Don't drive if you're light headed--call EMS, a friend or a cab for a ride.
It may well not be anything to worry about, but only your doctor can tell you that.
Please take care. |

| I agree with your friends above about not waiting. Pneumonia is serious stuff. Even though you have stopped smoking, your lungs may still be somewhat compromised. Do you get a pneumonia shot? I did when I worked in Immokalee.
I haven't had my flu shot yet. I need to. |

" Thank You Everyone ," I finally saw my Dr. this afternoon after waiting he wanted to know why was I up in the mountains at 10,000 feet and I said photographing the Aspen Trees so in between him getting mad at me and stops and says how did they look, we both laughed, the reason he got sort of mad is with CPOD your not suppose to go to higher altitudes , so I being a stubbron as my Mother used to call me A " Prussian German," I do remember I had to look that up at the time ! So he gave me a Albutoral treatment you have to breathe it in for 20 minutes and he ordered a new inhaler so I started to feel a little better ...So we'll see what the new one does any better because I was using Spiriva...

I found out why I was getting shortness of breath ! Stupid here is his own enemy I hadn't realized for months this was causing my problem until I sat down yesterday after I had an episode when I decided to go out to the Plaza downtown to phtograph the trees, I walked to the car and all of a sudden I couldn't breathe, so I decided I should go back in and lay down I don't want to drop dead on a public street. So as I sat quietly sipping coffee I was thinking to me what the hell am I doing wrong, so I got up and went to the kitchen counter and looked at my prescriptions and thought no I've taken those for years, then I looked at a bottle of pills I've been taking for ten months on and off it's Equaline Nighttime Sleep Aid and it has Hydramine HCI 25 MG . I looked it up on Wikkedpedia Encyclopedia and I found out if you have CPOD your not suppose to take it ! I finally read the bottle and it states don't take this if you have Emphysema or CPOD , hello I finally found out what was it causing my severe shortness of breath, so I found in my closet a bottle of Melatonin and that's all natural and I take that now. But I remember when I didn't take the sleeping pills for a month or so I would be downtown with my friend Angie, running around and she would say how comeyou don't want to take a break and in thinking back I realized I didn't get short of breath at that time, so I saved the bottle to show my Dr. threw pills away..
Cheers...........Joe |

| Always read the instructions/information that comes with the medication. Be sure to read the "Side Effects" That can be an eye opener. Glad you found the problem, Joe. |

Thak you....I'll know better next time. But I found out we are our own researchers if we just sit back, clear our heads and go over things in our minds then we may find the cause of the problem...
