Grateful for a good week! Empty
PostSubject: Grateful for a good week!   Grateful for a good week! EmptyThu Mar 20, 2014 11:32 am

It has been a horrible winter in New York. Record snow, multiple blizzards and record low temperatures that have frozen not just the usual lakes and reservoirs but even sizable sections of rivers have left us frazzled, frozen and anything but frisky.

Despite the weather and lingering winter blues, a couple of things in the past week helped me to start thawing out. First, I learned that my hero, Justica Scalia, cited one of my articles in a U.S. Supreme Court decision (Law v. Siegel). That particular article of mine (State Homestead Exemptions and Bankruptcy Law: Is it Time for Congress to Close the Loophole? - Rutgers Bus. LJ, 2010) had previously been cited by a bankruptcy court last summer (In Re Martin - Bankr. Court, ED New York, 2013) and in three published articles, but this was special to me. I also ironed out the details for a third edition of my Business Law and the Legal Environment of Business textbook with my plublisher. And I saw the first indications of spring in the air at Hofstra University as tulip banks began to break through the snow-covered ground. And this morning, coming home after a doctor's appointment, I saw yet another sure sign that spring is in the air--squirrels chasing each other up and down trees in the first steps of their heartwarming mating dance.

My heart is beginning to thaw out. Birds will soon build a nest in the birdhouses I put up for them, and perhaps the next time I hear hoof beats I'll think horses rather than the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Hope springs eternal.

                     Victor..
Congratulations ! I know my sister-in-law who lives way upstate NY
is fed up with the snowstorms. Here we only had one storm in December, I
know I shouldn't open my mouth because it's only March and the official
Spring here isn't until May, because in the past we have been known to have
snowstorms. Here the Sparrows are all in a flutter, I see them taking leaves
and other items to build nests , they all hang out in the portal outside which
has openings, last Spring it sounded like a hatchery....Oh Joy Spring !

                                                          Cheers...Joe.. flower

Thank you, friends. My least favorite four letter word is S-N-O-W. The best six letter word for this overgrown kid is S-P-R-I-N-G!  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce  bounce

Wow, Victor, that's fabulous! Congrats! Definitely resume-worthy, even with your accomplished resume as-is!

So how are you liking your NYC mayor?

Thanks, LC.

The only good news about the new NYC mayor is that he's not my mayor as I neither live nor work in NYC. His brand of politics is in no small part the reason I moved out in the early 1990's as it seems bad ideas like cockroaches never die out; they just go into temporary hiding.

The only good thing about the guy is that in similar fashion to his soul mates in Congress (true-believers like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid) who are so blinded by their self-righteous zeal that no facts will ever dismount them from their high horses, he (like they) will eventually implode and cause another flushing out of the extreme left in the next election cycle. Alas, the malodorous ordure in the dirty diapers left behind by the receding wake of the nanny state will take decades to air out. And, in the case of NYC, its citizens will most likely have to endure crime levels not seen since the Juliani administration corrected the mess that caused me to leave the city in the first place.

If I were simply a simple-minded partisan like so many on talk radio, I would rejoice at the beating that Liberalism/Progressivism/Socialism is taking and will continue to take thanks to these lauded leaders from the extreme left when the light of reality shines through even the pinkest of rose-colored glasses. But I am a patriot first and take no pleasure in the stench emanating from the political zombies that still wield power with all the zeal, mindless tenacity and thoughtfulness of the undead.
