| I spent one Christmas season in New Zealand - everything was closed for a week. We were on a driving tour and the motel owners included us in their family gatherings with great generosity and kindness. The airline lost our luggage (for our 16 day tour in New Zealand) and one hotelier gave me her robe so I didn't have to wrap in sheets to take our few cloths to launder.
In spite of no luggage we loved New Zealand - and maybe because of no luggage. The beauty that met us at every turn with such variety and magnificence - and often the simple kindness of people gave us such a good feeling for the whole country - and we covered a lot in sixteen days!
That was overkill - but so glad to tell a New Zealand person how grand I found the country. |
