                                Chris Christi last night won big! He has hinted he wants to run
                  for President in 2016 and ask our great governor Christina Martinez to be
                  his Vice-Presdient.....You go Chris !

Dave says he's not a bad governor for a Republican, that he's basically a good guy, but he's still very conservative in his outlook.  He is a gentleman, and a hard worker, but the Republican agenda, even without the Tea Party, is just not progressive enough for the country's needs today, it seems to me.

So far, If Hilary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, I will vote for her.  It's time for a woman president, but it seems a little early to decide.  It's still two years away.

I like Elizabeth Warren.  I will not vote for any republican.  I hope the country does the same.

I love Bernie Sanders.

I'm with Betty, however it is most likely just a dream.

I guess because Christi is a good buy we are supposed to forget where the republicans took us and continue threatening social security and Medicare. Short memory syndrome.

Not to mention women's health care and reproductive choices. Until the platform changes no woman should vote republican. No senior or soon to be senior either.

.  Noticed that in the VA governor election, one of the surprises was that married women voted for Cucccineli.  I would guess that they would be a bit older than the single women who went heavily for McAuliffe  Many women who are married to conservatives, especially financially successful conservatives, are not that concerned about women's rights, including healthcare rights, because those concerns do not apply to them.  If anything, they are opposed, since the changes could be threatening to their security.

Just me, though.

Yes, older women seem to forget they have daughters until those daughters face their own decisions for which they need emotional support.

Most of the very conservative women I know would not force their daughter to carry an unwanted pregnancy even though they will vote for a candidate that will put that into the law.  The wealthy women will take their daughters to get the healthcare they need as they have the means to overcome the heinous laws for which they vote.

Wealth creates a bubble where you can be philosophically for a position with the full knowledge that you do not have to honor it in your own life - laws are for those "others."

Fathers generally prefer to kill the man responsible and in some religions, stone the woman.

Christie also recently told NJ teachers to get their act together.  That put him out of favor with my son, his wife, and many of their friends.

When it comes down to it, he has charm and charisma, but he's still a conservative.

Also heard this morning that very few of the families who lost homes during Sandy have had them fixed, and nobody knows where the funds went.


I was surprised, because when I was there in July, I saw a lot of repairs and rebuilding going on. It seems that those people were forced to go into extreme debt to take care of the costs themselves - and this is from the man who says he was responsible for getting the state through the crisis.

I do not babble.  Chris Christi is a republican.  The republican platform is anti women's right to choose their own health care options.  Period.  The republican platform is to reduce and privatize both social security and medicare.  These are just a couple of the heinous bits in the platform.

A republican is a republican.  The platform is still their platform and the conservative platform is anti progress and anti women and is not all inclusive to minorities even if a stray or two from previously called "minority" groups finds their way into the republican party.  I was a republican once, too until as former Governor Christ says, "the party left me."

The republican platform is to continue amassing wealth to the wealthiest and most powerful and let the poor die.  The wealthy can get their workers from overseas.  U.S. working class people have no use to the wealthy and powerful anymore. 

My memory is as sharp as it was when I worked on the hill.  I know of what I speak, even if I don't always say it with the best grammar.

Seriously?? My impression of DK Christie is that she is about as far from beint a "hater" as anyone on this forum.  She is passionate abour her causes and speaks eloquently about them.

One doesn't have to be a hater to be aware of the extent to which women are still being downgraded even in the US of A.

It is the hateful mysogyny and homophobia of the current coservatives who are frightened by the legitimate rising power of the feminine that is the problem.

And yes, I speak as an independent woman.

Independent people are a good thing.  Men legislating health care for women's bodies is not a sign of independence and was well described by Ann.

A party that is not inclusive is not prepared for the real world.

A party ruled by the Heritage Foundation and the ultra-conservative hate groups that write the legislation and push it through republican majority state legislatures is not a party that enriches the two-party system.

Within the republican party are people who hung out there longer than me and can still see a future without legislating their religious beliefs.  There are still people who care about the less able and those at the bottom of the economic spectrum, including children.  It's just that their voices have been silenced by the loud right wingers who see no independence for anyone except those living in the bubbly of the extremely wealthy.

I have yet to see or read any hate coming from either of them.

 Joe, Joe, Joe.  We alll know who the screamer is on this forum.

How do you scream on a forum?  You use capital letters and multiple exclamation points.

You don't hear men calling for the right to decide what they do with their own bodies because they don't have to deal with the problem.  If these conservatives were legistating to deny their access to Viagra, I think we might hear them speaking quite vociferously.

Ted Cruz is screaming.  Ken Cuccinelli is screaming.  Rand Paul is screaming.

They are screaming because they see their automatic power system of patriarchal dominence dissloving.

Competition is about to be replaced by cooperation.  Many men cannot handle that.
