Another reason

This is a big part of the reason, in my humble opinion, that many legitimate writers have such a hard time finding a major publisher.

Lauren Conrad Inks a Three-Book Deal

She's already a reality star and a fashion designer, but Lauren Conrad is adding another title to her crowded resume: Author.

Conrad, 22, has signed on to write a three-book series of young adult fiction for HarperCollins, the publisher tells PEOPLE. The books – the first of which is scheduled to hit shelves in the summer of 2009 – will be loosely inspired by Conrad's own experience going from an ordinary teen to a reality TV star.

This is a 22 year old "reality star and fashion designer" who is going to write three young adult fiction novels, inspired by her own many, many years of expreience.

I had to look up Lauren Conrad.
Never heard of her.
And now I know why.

In the CB lingo of my 70's period,

I never heard of her either.
All she'll do is hire a ghost, if Harper/Collins hasn't already done so, and never have to lift her pretty little fingers.

Yep, flooding the market with more celebrity crap. This is one of the reasons it is hard for real writers to break into the market - publishers dollars are tied up in this stuff.

And Harper Collins also have 1,000,000,000 + sock puppets already lined up to give her 10,000 five star reviews on the day the novel hits amazon

So when the next punter comes along, he'll buy the book without having even so much as read the synopsis...
