Why go into hiding? Why not just buy more and bigger guns and shoot the hell out of anyone who comes after him?

According to our court system this is over. That's the way I see it, I think that's the way everyone should see it.

Nobody should riot, nobody should loot (By the way, how does looting help the situation? Is stealing large flat screen TVs supposed to be some kind of protest?)

Calmness is what is called for tonight, and in the days to come. By everyone.

Respect the law and the verdict.

The huf post did a pretty good summary.  I still hold with my original conviction that the evidence was uncertain.  The jury could not have "reasonable doubt."  Uncertain evidence leads to "reasonable doubt."  Their decision seems logical for the evidence. 

 My issue has always been the original situation, a boy walking home and an overzealous neighborhood watch person who created the circumstances that lead to the death of Trayvon.  There seems no place in the law for proper consequences.

 I don't believe that Zimmerman will be free.  I am glad there was a trial. Zimmerman will carry the burden of what he caused for the rest of his life.  He was the original cause.  Trayvon had a right to walk home slowly, dressed as he wished, carrying his purchases, without
fear.  This is, after all, the United States of America.  What followed was caused by Zimmerman.  Period.

Yeah, and their civil rights charges will go as far as their murder charge did. Hopefully Zimmerman will make a fortune off his NBC lawsuit and live comfortably off that.

Hopefully Zimmerman will live
more prudently.

Oh, I'm sure he will! This is a sobering case study for anyone who tries defending their neighborhood against chronic burglaries. Unlike the celebs moaning that it's open season on young black men, I think it's going to be open season on gun ownership and property defense.

I don't want an amateur with a gun defending my neighborhood. There are two black families on my street with teenage black children.  My friend's grandchildren are black teenagers.  Most of my neighbors for blocks around are white or from somewhere in South America.  On garbage day, some people in trucks cruise the neighborhood to collect anything useful on the street.  No one on this street deserves to be stalked or shot.  Neither did Trayvon Martin. The verdict did not say Zimmerman did nothing wrong; the verdict said the jurors had reasonable "doubt" and could not send him away for life.

There have been burglaries on my street in the past.  There was domestic violence.  There were pot growers renting my house.  It is not perfect, but it is by most estimations a nice, average neighborhood.  A bunch of cars were broken into that were parked in driveways and whatever was inside stolen about two years ago.  They were caught.  I'm glad they were not shot.  They were teenagers who could yet learn from their mistakes.

This is not the wild west.  This is civilized society.
