Foodnetwork fires Paula Deen - we all make mistakes !

                   Today the Foodnetwork fired Paula Deen because she admitted several
                   years ago she used the ' N' word, first off she apologized for anything
                   she has said in the past , everyone makes mistakes in their past and that
                   includes politicians and famous people. My opinion they were wrong and I
                   think she should create her own food network. What is your opinion ?

Back to privacy:  I understand she was under oath when she admitted to it   Apparently it had been years ago.  I am glad she was truthful and sorry for the situation.

I think there is more to the story than meets the eye.  If you recall, there was also a harassment suit filed against her and her brother.  Networks don't get rid of moneymakers without reason.

It's a cooking show. Can Oprah cook? Oprah pays people to cook for her.

Networks get rid of moneymakers as soon as someone with an agenda calls them racist. They cower, quake in fear, and freak out.

From what I've read, a past employee of one of Dean's (or her brother's) restaurants is suing Dean for supposedly using racial epithets. That's a common money-making, shake-down scheme.

Oprah's OWN network is falling off a cliff. Her expiration date has passed.

Since I don't have privy to the details, I'm not fixed on an opinion.  She's probably made enough money that it's a blow, but not a disaster; and she will find another place.

I'm sure she'll be alright, and I don't care anyhow. She's a lifelong Dem and Obama supporter, and just getting the full effect of that. I rarely watched her crappy show, as I don't need recipes for  deep-fried mac and cheese. She got diabetes from her own awful dishes.

Very much Old South. Maybe in too many ways. I watched her show off and on. I did get one recipe that I liked and still use one in a while, depending on the rest of the dinner - Grape Tomatoes in Cream Sauce: Saute tomatoes in a little butter (OK, she used a lot), add cream and simmer until the skins start to split. A bit of real butter and cream are better for us than the trans-fat substitutes that claim to improve cholesterol "bit" being the operative word.

But she permanently lost me with her dozen varieties of Ooey-Gooey Butter Cakes - Gross!

There could be something to the accusations - or not. The main thing is that her unhealthy way of cooking is losing fans and becoming an uncomfortable situation for Foodnetwork. My guess, anyway.

She is a liar (hawking sugary snacks on her show while having diabetes). Adding "clueless racist" to her resume is just icing on the cake, so to speak.

Actually, I think she was an object lesson.  Her cooking style contributed to her diabetes...lesson: do not do as I do.  Her cooking style contributed to her obesity...lesson: do not as I do.  Someone said she had lap band surgery to lose the weight - but that may have been a rumor.

Her judgment seems to  be impaired.  Now she is blaming her job losses on the Jews.

From what I can tell, that  originated from a satire site, The Daily Currant, which is the UK equivalent of The Onion, but people are running with it.

Most people need to just go back to their beer and Kim Kardashian's tits. Seriously. In two days they'll forget most everything they read about anything.

Actually, Joe,  you hit on a cord there.  Interesting how the female gets dumped immediately while they think about it awhile before they dump the males...Rush Limbaugh should be long gone.

                                 nasty temper and a mouth to go along with it , do you remember
                                 when he berated his daughter over the phone and didn't know
                                 his X-wife was taping it ? He needs to be dropped from TV plus
